The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted coffee, molasses, and chocolate. The Flavor is sweet and smoky with notes of coffee, molasses, and dark fruits. The texture is creamy. It’s an excellent beer...If Hunter Thompson hadn’t blown his brains out while tripping on acid, I’d congratulate him. BMan1113VR (2813), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2008 An almost black colored beer, with a dark beige foamed head. The aroma of chocolate, dark malts, dark fruits and grainy. There is also a lot of hop, American hops, strongly present. When you taste the beer, the hop is also there. It predominate the tastes of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits like prunes, blackberries and raisins. It’s bitter. The aftertaste is bitter as well and it’s warm. That stays for a while. gameface23 (131), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2008 Strong aroma of sweetened dark chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. Flavors of chocolate, mild coffee, with dark fruits and an alcoholic bite that tingles the tongue. Fruity and acidic at the back of the throat. Bold and good. Not the tops but I’d get again. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Oct 13, 2008 IN my very clean Mikasa goblet this beer’s head went down faster than a Coke Zero on a 100 degree day. The only ass-whipping would be to the Rolling-Stone sellouts who would give out the Hunter Thompson name in favor of a road reference in what they mistakenly believe would give them a reference of Jack Kerouac. Can a reverse bite in the ass be given, if so than Flying Dog is snipping at the flea at their ass . aaaaaaaaaah (61), Warren, Michigan, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 12, 2008 A wonderful example of an Imperial Porter. Abounding aromas of roasted molasses, chocolate and coffee, finishing with butterscotch and vanilla. Smooth, sweet and easy to drink. A nice after dinner "sit and sip" beer with a soft creamy palate and a little alcohol heat at the end. OK! LET’S PARTY! Dango (26), Snekkersten, Denmark
