4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 fiveacestx (351) - Texas, USA - MAR 7, 2013
Bottle - Pours jet black and looks thick. Has a nice light brown head with average lacing. Has a nice milk chocolate nose and a roasty chocolate taste. Nice thick mouthfeel. Probably the best porter that I have had so far. It did age for probably nine months before I drank it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 imdownthepub (8470) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 4, 2013
Bottled, 355ml from Tesco, Banbury. Black with tan head. Smoky fruity aroma leading to a rich, smooth beer, good deeply roasted malts, some chocolate and coffee hints, the fruitiness has a blackcurrant hint, lots of depth and surprisingly easy drinking. Very enjoyable.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 richc (144) - Bolton, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - MAR 1, 2013
Aroma starts with a bunch of citrus notes, lime, grapefruit etc and follows with a sweet coffee and dark chocolate theme. After promising so much in the aroma the flavour does live up to expectations, rounded sweet roasty notes are balanced by a firm but not overpowering bitterness.
4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 jamesie1857 (800) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 25, 2013
330ml bottle - Crikey! Not often I get this reaction when I crack a bottle, the nose is hop heavy, citrussy, with a ton of roasty malts, mocha and so forth. Outstanding aroma. Looks so-so, pours decent black with a thick tan head, but once that goes it looks nothing special. This is boozy, warm with a chocolate and liquorice overload, with grapefruit and something I can’t pick out. Still thick on the way through, nice oily mouthfeel and a warm lasting ending. Seriously, this is a good one from a brewery I’ve never heard too many hot things about.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 worldbeertaste (1116) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - FEB 25, 2013
Light does not penetrate this darkness with a brown, thick, creamy, lasting, lacy head. Smells of deep roast, dark chocolate, roast, soft hops, caramel without any real alcohol. Very nice. Medium to full creamy body with faint carbonation. Tastes of soya sauce, slightly burnt roasted malt, oak, bitter coffee and liquorish. Moves from sweet to bitter dry finish. Slight alcohol is noticed on the finish with some tummy warming. Much easier to drink than the barrel aged version with less alcohol present. It smells amazing but the taste doesn’t keep up. But something feels off and makes me a bit disappointed.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Torrefacto (59) - - FEB 22, 2013
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kiwianer (2309) - Mönchengladbach, GERMANY - FEB 20, 2013
The head is ok, the body black. It smells roastmalty, creamy-balanced, a bit hoppy, coffe, chocolate, a bit alcoholic. The taste is roastaromatic, maltaromatic, a bit alcoholic-coffee in a great way, hoppy, bit bitter-chocolate, highly delicious!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 PhillyCraft (1957) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 19, 2013
Bottle. 12oz. Always one of my favorite beers from Flying Dog and probably one of the first good porters I tried 3-4 years ago. Pours black with medium khaki head, light lacing. Aromas of roasted malt and grain, dark chocolate, light wood, Flavor is just as balanced with a nice malt and light hop flavors mixed with the chocolate and roasts. Medium bodied/carbonation. Quite tasty porter.
