Commercial Description:
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 7.8% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

This is a great porter. Good lacing and dark appearance. Chocolate and mocha flavors with mild fruitiness. Mouthfeel is decent but not a strong point but overall one of the best porters I’ve. Doesn’t top Olfabrikken but it’s in that realm. Would like to try again.

aroma is of dark fruit with a bit of alcohol. taste is more booze with loads of chocolate, some vanilla, and just a slight hint of roast as this warms, this blends into almos a bourbon character. not bad at all.

Poured from bottle an opaque dark brown/black with a very large frothy mocha foam that fades slowly leaving nice lacing rings. Aroma is bitter chocolaty with a sweet-tart black cherry and a touch of dusty yeast. Flavor is bitter chocolate, a little coffee, lightly charred grain with a very soft bittering and some tart black plum with lightly sweetened syrup. The palate is nice, having an initial sweetness moving into a soft powdery bitterness and a mild tartness. Not a huge malty mouthfull but well balanced. I found the alcohol to be hardly noticible. Overall, a winner. I would love to drink more.

Fresh from the brewery in Frederick MD- Poured a black coffee with nice foam ruddy tan head & lacing. Mild Coffee, chocolate, roasted aroma quality with this carrying into the pallet. It has some mellow bitterness which evens it out, giving it a pleasant taste. The malt fills the pallet, relaxing. Picked up a growler of this even though I live about an hour and forty five away from the brewery!

Aroma of burnt coffee and chocolate. Pours black with a thin brown head, awesome bottle design is a plus and great for my collection. Flavor is smoky, roasted black coffee, chocolate, not too strong liquor. Easy on the palate for this dark of a beer...leaves that nice smoky, warm feel on the tounge. Overall this beer has great flavor and easy to drink for being so dark..."Good Beer, No Shit."

Bottle pours dark brown almost black with a small light brown head. Aromas of sweet dark dried fruits, cherry, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet smoke, berries, roasted malts, oak, slight chocolate, with a touch of bitter hops to finish it off.

Very nice brew. Poured black with a nice brown foamy head. Chocolate and espresso aromas dominate up front. Nice burnt coffee taste, with a oily feel in the mouth. Nice bitter finish. Would drink again.
