Shaker glass pour, black with a dark brown head, tastes of chocolate, coffee, and toasted malt with a hint of alcohol, has some bitterness to it but it is nicely balanced

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
poured into shaker glass. A pure black with no light able to come through. Almost brown head, small and fine with good thick lace. Aroma for me is almost pure licorice, with some chocolate and a nice earthiness. A thick one that gives a blast of bitter as it passes the tongue and the alcohol warms as it hits the belly. Alcohol is fairly hidden in the drink and comes out late in the finish. Taste is dark roasted malts, coffee and chocolate gaining in licorice late. Body is full, and texture is creamy with soft CO2. Very well done.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black body, medium-sized tan head, soapy lacing. Nose shows grapefruit and piney hops with moderate roast underneath. Flavor flips the profile as earthy roast dominates and is complemented by some piney hop notes. Medium to full bodied, lively carbonation, moderate bitterness, refreshing finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Davvero ganza sta gonzo!!

Good but not exceptionnal... perhaps too much alcool for me (destroyed a bit the porter taste...)

Bottle at Koopers. Pours muddy brown/dark red with caramel lacing, no head. Boozy aroma with some coffee/cocoa tones. Taste is roasted malt, dark coffee, some chocolate/caramel tones. Chewy but not a heavy beer on the palate. Good dessert beer.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Initial aromas of sweet cherry and wood (or maybe resin) appear, but quickly fade and are replaced, briefly, by overripe, or maybe sugared, strawberries. This ultimately gives way to a light aroma of roasted coffee, caramel, and some candy sugar (jolly ranchers). It’s a deep, opaque beer, with the only hint of it’s brown color being given away at a dimple in the bottom of the glass. On top of this is a very thick, pillowy, fluffly soap-sud brown head that retains really well and leaves lots of fluffy cloud-like lace. The taste is wonderfully balanced between moderate levels of sweet and bitter. It’s like eating a chocolate coffee and toffee candy - maybe it’s just my mind playing tricks on me, but I thought I even picked up some mint in there; like a Frango mint. It’s a medium bodied beer that’s relatively thin and oily - probably why it’s an imperial porter and not a stout - although does have a stickiness to it. There’s a moderate, maybe moderate high level of carbonation that lies somewhere between soft and fizzy. It’s mostly sweet, rich chocolate in the mouth that finishes very clean for such a big beer. A pleasant and mellow roasted coffee and dark chocolate show up in the aftertaste that sticks around.
