Commercial Description:
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 7.8% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

Bottle from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville. Pours ruby-reddish brown with a medium head. Very roasty aroma. I get a very specific taste of honey roasted peanuts. Also, some bitter coffee. This is tasty.

Wow! This is a very good beer. Pours a dark brown with a medium brown head. Has a nice strong fruity aroma with a hint of chocolate. This actually taste more like an Imp. IPA than a porter. The flavor is huge, starting off with a fruity and somewhat pineyness, having hints of caramel and chocolate malts which kind of hide in the back of the taste of the hops. Somewhat smoky aftertaste with a nice bitterness. This ones very juicy! One thats for hop lovers alike! Awsome beer!

Bottle 12 oz from Brooklyn. Dark hazy brown, almost black, with small brown head. Nose is surprisingly fresh, berryish, chocolate milk shake, coffee and hoppiness. Flavor is milky, chocolatey, freshly sweet, only little roasty or overly malty, but rather hoppy and fresh. Nicely balanced and even subtle for an american product. Very enjoyable.

Poursa a dark brown with a light brown head , producesgood lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, hops, smokey yet sweet. The flavor is smokey chocolate malts, some toffee, rich and slightly sweet with some hop bitterness. This is a well built and well balanced porter, complex and very drinkable. Very nice.

bottle, 2 years old: tons of yeast sediment left behind in the bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown with a light brown not quite tan head that starts out about on finger and quikly disapates to a small layer on the surface. laces the whole way down. The aroma is strong of licorice with plenty of weet malt and dark fruits mixed into the surprisingly subtle roastyness. FULL bodies brew that leaves a chewy finish. A lot of sweet malt on the palate, almost fruity. The sweet malt is followed by that licorice in the aroma mixed with planety of roasted malt and a little chocolate. The finish warms the throat ever so slightly, bbut leaves a not so pleasent salty roasty coating to the mouth.
