This porter poured out a very black color with a small decent head. The head was brown but looked like it had a rose tint to it. Tasted a little like wine to me for some reason. It was also much better when I had it on cask. From the bottle it is just ok.
MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Apr 11, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a snifter. This beer poured a slick, inky black with a lasting head of dark tan foam. Some heavy lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of coffee, chocolate, and a healthy dose of fresh, piney hops. The flavor included some mild milk chocolate, bitter coffee, fresh pine, and also a bit of citrus. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and chewy with light carbonation. Pretty tasty, and still displays some traditional porter characteristics despite the high ABV. HenrikSoegaard (4260), Randers, Denmark Apr 11, 2008 Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Fantasic complex hoppy and malty aroma. Really great. Powerfull smoked bitter flavor. Long heavy bitter finish. Creamy palate. ironchefscott (341), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 8, 2008 gotta love anything gonzo related...but this is a damn good beer nonetheless
ok..going to sound repeative...great roasted malts hints of coffee and raisins some boozey notes in the finish..even though I don’t think this was barrel aged...maybe from the roasted malts....anyways good stuff mirjukka (695), LOHJA, Finland Apr 8, 2008 bottle at The Gallow Bird Espoo 070408

aftertaste very roasted almost burnt malts kicks! TheSponge (269), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Apr 5, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown (almost black) with a dark tan foamy head. Very malty, with hints of coffee, chocolate, and raisins. To put it briefly, this is one damn fine porter. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA Apr 5, 2008 Pours black with large tan head. The aroma is sweet with some smoky. The flavot has a nice roasted flavor along with a bit of chocolate and some caramel sweetness. Not to bitter. Decent if short finish. chokmah33 (115), Bremerton, Washington, USA Apr 4, 2008 Updated: Aug 6, 2008Dark chocolate, burnt sugar, toffee, and almond aromas. Fig and overly-ripe cherry alongside a bitter oaky floral hops bouquet.
Smells like the dankest porter ever.
Intial mouthfeel and taste reminds me of red wine. I didn’t find it to bitter, I enjoyed the citrus pucker that builds in the mid.
Sublte creamy texture is impressive. Malts give you something to chew on.
Gentle smoky (grilled meat) and woodsy flavors up front.
Chocolate coffee roasted malt backbone, cherries and carmelized peaches in the mid. Finish is pure bitter chocolate around the campfire satisfaction.
