COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 12 oz bottle pours black with a mocha colored head. Aroma of roasted malt with subtle hints of dark fruit and some toffee as it warms. Taste of molasses and black licorice upfront and then a turn to darker flavors of charred malt and dark chocolate covered espresso beans.

Bottle bought at Reading Beer Festival 2013 into an Achel glass at home. Black with a generous bubbly chocolate brown head. Boozy and ’IPA’ hopped aroma, smells like a black IPA. Malt, quite hoppy, smooth. Tasty.

Draft at Coffee District in Delray Beach. Goblet. Extreme dark brown opaque with thin tan head. Moderate lacing throughout. Aroma of rich malts and nuts. Taste was a little less complex than I was expecting. Roasted malt comes through, slight bitter hops, dark fruits and a hint of coffee. Smooth finish. Little boozie. A b minus in my book.

Not sure the difference between an imperial porter and stout. Not really even sure the difference between many porters and stouts. This one is great though. Rich chocolate, full body creamy. Semi sweet chocolate finish. Bitterness blends right tin with subtle bitterness of the hops. Well done.

I love this beer. Thick dark viscous and black with a creamy head. The aroma and flavour is red wine, berries, spirits, and some hops. There is a smooth bitterness and a lovely lasting flavour in the mouth.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Black with a light brown head that laces quick. Smells hoppy, with big roasted dark malts. tastes bold up front. Thin coffee with a hop backbone providing balance. Finish is a bit piney. Medium mouth feel with medium carbonation.

Black, with a thin light brown head. Aroma is dark fruit, alcohol, bread, not that pleasant, Taste is sweet. Less thick and creamy texture than I’d expected/hoped for, quite fizzy. Was reeally expecting more from this beer. It’s not one I’ll buy again.

Nice porter. Has a nice balance of dark fruits, chocolate and the usual slightly bitter liqorice finish. Although i prefer it a bit more malty, rye like. A bit more smooth and creamy. But that’s personal :)

A - Pours jet black with a beefy 2 finger tan head that takes awhile to sink and settle into a nitro bubbled cap with large collars of lacing. S - Roasted milk chocolate malt, coffee, smokey, some sourness as well. T - Roasted dark malt, tangy raspberry chocolate, espresso, has a dairy-like sweetness, some roasty citrus bitterness on the backend. Finishes with a long smokey bitterness. M - Velvety, creamy, medium to full bodied, soft carbonation. I love this beer! It’s complex, looks, smells, and tastes great. This is a sipper for any occasion. Serving type: bottle 05-12-2011

355ml bottle. Pours black in colour with a thick brown head and aroma of tropical fruit hops. Taste is dark malt caramel, toffee, with fruity orange citrus followed by some chocolate & coffee. Rich juicy mouth feel, medium carbonation, dry bitter finish. Very drinkable.
