Bottle from N. Charles Liquors. A very unique experience. Aroma of whiskey mingling with hops, very dark. Long-lasting good taste, taste of deep hops, coffee and whiskey combined. Very rich, very full glass of beer. Mild-Medium carbonation, just right. Medium tan-head.
An excellent beer, one of my favorites.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep roasted aroma with some hop coming though. Nice dark creamy head. Quite dense...cannot see any light through the glass. A ton of bitter chocolate flavor...very nice. Somewhat thin but finishes very well.

I didnít expect a lot from this, since I hadnít seen any ratings before purchase. Or before my first sip. But Iím liking it. Looks great in the glass, with tan lacing clinging to the sides. Lively. A beer you need to pace yourself with, because it goes down very easily.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rich black with a mocha-colored head that drops into a soapy film. Pretty crisp nose for an imperial porter, includes some caramel, chocolate, and piney aromas. Flavors are rich chocolate, coffee, and classic american hop bitterness. Finishes somewhat dry.
Overall, lots of classic porter flavors without wearing out your palate but still delivers a solid hop profile.

Pretty good standard Strong Ale, a little above average bitter at the end, but the bitterness slowly disappears as this one warms up. overall not to bad a Strong Ale, would drink this one again.

15 Nov 2008: Black, with lots of creamy brown foam. Aroma: Roasted malt. Very carbonized palate. Very intensive sweet malt with coffe/chockolate. Very bitter, IBU 85, but does not really taste very bitter. Nice label.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2014 Pours a real dark brown bordering on black. A big foamy tan head. Roasted grains, coffee, a little chocolate, and some hops are in the nose. Similar in the taste, with a nice dry finish. Great imperial porter, well balanced.

Pours a dark, syrupy-looking red-black with a medium brown head that leaves thick lacing. Aroma is strong roasty coffee malt, with some chocolate, hops, and a hint of fruit. Coffee and chocolate flavor, lightly sweet but with some good hoppy bitterness. Leaves a dense roasted, smoky aftertaste. Full mouthfeel. Tasty.
