COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

Has a very pretty head and a dark body. Strong chocolate with bitter alcohol goodness. The alcohol content makes up for an otherwise average porter. although the pale ale is good, I hope to one day find the flying dog beverage that does mr. thompson justice. it really should have whiskey in it, though...

Pours a dark black. smell of some coffee and roasted malt. Taste of some chocolate and coffee with a lil hops. Noticed it did get a lot better as it warmed up. Liked this beer and theres a badass skeleton on the label what more could u ask for

Bottle poured into glass. pours a dark chocolate colour with a thick creamy chocolate colour head. the aroma and taste of coffee and chocolate a you expect from a porter. another great beer from the guy’s at Flying Dog

This is a fine porter. Strong and robust malt flavor with a nice hop overtone gives it some vibrancy. Being fairly smooth on the palate makes it pretty drinkable. The high ABV would limit me to one or two per sitting.

Bottle. Aromas of chocolate, dankness, treacle. Almost smells like flavoured milk? Quite bitter and hoppy initially, then a very nice amount of sweetness offsets the bitterness and the sweetness lingers longer. A kind of charcoal-and-ground-coffee flavour lingers with the sweet chocolate well after swallowing. Also occasionally notice a taste of resiny hops at the end. Quite delicious. Didn’t even taste the 9.2% which was very nicely hidden.

pours black with a perfect milky brown head. Good aroma but too hoppy for a porter. flavor is a good chocolate and roast barley, I didn’t taste too much coffee. lighter palate than a porter should have due to the hops (I’m not complaining tho) hops like a stout with the creaminess of a good porter, very enjoyable

Bottle from systembolaget. Very cool color dark, nice foam. Arome and taste are very soft, it’s really hard to feel 9.2 ABV in it. Some chocolate is there as well as little orange taste. Highly recommended.

Had with Jeff at iron abbey beer dinner on October 19. Dark and rich. No hop presence. Caramel and burnt toffee. Not much coffee to it.

The flavor is the key here. Lots of coffee and roasted tastes. The finish is very long too, which is nice. I think the aroma is only a little above average. I also find the carbonation a bit aggressive.

Thick and viscous, with a flavorfull head. Almost oily texture. Caramelized toasty flavor, with no burnt notes.
