4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours extremely dark with lively head. Black coffee, smoked cocoa, which is almost brownie-ish on the nose. The palate is viscous, but without any diactyl slipperyness. The is translated well with chocolate malt in the foreground. I nice tribute to the old Doctor.

very well balanced for such an overly hopped madnessbeer. a tasty drinker, but dont expect to find much of the porter roastiness you might expect, look out for the american overhopped smack.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
[33cl bottle, home, 29/12/09] Coffee and more coffee. The biterness that ensues is there throughout with subtle hints of sweetness at times. Not sure what to make of the mouthfeel. Oily, with less body others seem to perceive.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, deep brown/black pour with a thin head, strong coffee flavor, a bit thin perhaps for the style but the flavor is excellent and the alcohol is well hidden

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottles. Found 4-packs in Jacksonville, FL after finding out my current-native Austin, TX would not be getting it (WTF?) AN AMAZING BEER! Bought a case-worth, but couldnít take it by plane. 2 years later, I drove three states to pick it up. A beer worth the wait! Now holding last 2 4-packs for the perfect occasion. Hunter S. Thompson would have loved some of this brew on a cold snowy night out at the ranch.
Pours a think oily black with hints of crimson and brown. Very strong alcohol content is obvious and appreciated. Has bite from carbonation and hops. Starts cold with a chocalate/smoke/fruit taste... blossoms as it warm to a sweet meatier taste. The aroma is seductive, haunts me all day long.
Serve with roasted pork marinated in red wine, cherries and garlic.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours like motor oil...used motor oil.
Color is "darker than a black steers tucous on a moonless night".
Poured it slow and created a creamy, malty, chocolate head 2 inches high that hangs around for awhile. Aroma is a sweet, mousy, dark rich chocolate liqueur, with raisins, like a liquid Chunky candy-bar. Port wine-ish. Flavor is bitter dark chocolate and a dry nutty hops with a little raisin and a little dirt. Very smooth body with low carbonation. A nice dessert drink. Great label.
