COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you donít show it the proper respect. IBUís: 85

From a bottle. Didn't get as much coffee as I expected. Hoppy for a dark beer. Not easy to drink, but solid a beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

FANTASTIC. Definately have to agree with the "glug-glug" thing, thatís exactly what it did when I poured it out. The thick, malty flavors carried over to the aroma. Both were very layered and packed a simple yet intese flavor that was extremely robust. A big palate-pleaser.

Delicious chocolate coffee flavor. Reminds me more of a stout that a porter. Nice dark pour. Sweet chewy sticky mouthfeel.

I normally don’t partake in porters too much but this one crossed my path and i was very impressed. Smells like a stout, coffee, and roasted malt. Tastes like tons of malt and very little hops. Normally this would discourage me but this is so smooth that it makes up for it. Overall a great beer and I would recommend this to anyone looking for great and interesting flavor.

looks like it should pours black with brown head. smells roasty, malty, with a tinge of sweetness and booze at the end. tastes pretty nice, but has an interesting bite at the end. hoppy for a porter, but itís imperial, i guess... a little thin on the palate, but not bad overall.

Bottle. Pitch black with a thick brown-ish head. Surprisingly weak aroma, some roasted notes, some almost wheat-line tones, cold coffee, and some background hops. But disappointing, served too cold? Hm... Creamy body with light carbonation. Semi-sweet, with a click medium to full body with roasted black malt dominating with coffee and bitter chocolate, then leaving a long rather bitter finish. Some sugary notes is mixed with a twang of alcohol. I had this one some 8 months ago and was impressed. This time, not so much: still a good stout, but not a standout.

Pint pours a viscous near black with luxuriant lasting mocha foam taking upper 3/4th of glass. Coffee roast, cocoa and vanilla bean essences carrying over in silken palate. As they gain complexity, mild heat picks up along with bright hoppy sear. Leaves generous savory coat of melded flavors. Tad discordant at first but more balanced as it approaches room temp.

Dark brown, frothy cream coloured head. You can smell the hops and the 9,2% abv:) first taste impression is sweet, malty. The aftertaste is bitter, almost like a grapefruit. I really like that combo:) definitly a beer I will buy again the next time I find it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 mL bottle produced June 2005. Poured with a tight tan head having a sweet chocolatey caramel malt aroma. Full rich malt flavor with hints of chocolate. Just a hint of bitterness and well masked alcohol. I liked this better than the 12 oz bottle. If it werenít $18 a pop Iíd buy more of this to lay down.

Bottle. Pours a deep, dark redish color. with little to no head to speak of. Aroma is of coffee, chocolates, malts and maybe a touch of sour cherries? Taste is very nice. Has a nice bitter front to the beer. And then mellows out to a nice, smooth coffee finish. Coaffee, malts, chocolate, a slight bitter hop taste in there to. Not to bad.
