Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

Sweet floral boquet. Appearance: dark brown head; liquid is opaque, pitch black. Flavor is strong. Very heavy, alcoholic taste. Palate revealse liquorish, nutty, smokey, some sweet syrup taste. Roasted sour malt. Creamy smooth finish.

Nightblack, with steddy foam. Smelles of dried fruit, coffee and herbes. Extremely long duration of aftertaste. One of the top 5 beers I have tasted.

This porter is dark and thick with a decent head. No aroma to speak of but plenty of flavor. Roasted barley and molasses notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

They had it at the liquor store for 3 bucks a bottle, MUCH MUCH better then the garde, that one wasn’t near as good. Smells really good, goes down a bit bitter but overall has a decent amount of flavor. Not a bad way to spend 3 bucks.

(12 oz btl) Pours a milky black w/ a thick, tan head which diminishes somewhat, but leaves a nice lace behind. Earthy hops combine w/ the rich malt creating an aroma of black strap molasses. Bittersweet chocolate-covered espresso beans is the best way to describe the taste. There’s a hint of dark fruit in there as well. Finishes smoky w/ a nice hop bite.

Pours black with a small brown head and bits of lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, sweat cream, and caramel. Taste is bittersweet and very malty. Some coffee and cocoa in there. This is well balanced and tastes like creamy coffee, caramel and toffee. Alcohol comes through as it warms The body is very creamy with a medium/light carbonation. Wow this is really smooth. A very good porter and widely distributed.

Hard to come to grips with this one. Pours dark with a smalish head Aroma of malt and yeast. Astringent blast of burned malts first hits, which diminishes moderately quickly to be replaced by some hints of dark stone fruit. It’s just not balanced. Has an alcoholic finish. Yet, I like it for its faults. Perhaps aging would round off the edges.

Pretty hoppy for a porter. Smells of burnt coffee/caramel. Hoppy start, earthy finish. Jet black in color, very little head with moderate lacing. I’m not a porter drinker usually but I enjoyed this beer. It was much better once it warmed up.

12oz. bottle from Premier Gourmet. The beer poured a beautiful dark midnight brown that settled to black in the glass. The head was thick and tan. The aroma that came off of this brew was roasted malts and chocolate. The beer was smoothing and creamy, perfectly carbonated and very drinkable. Not overly sweet even though there was a dominant presence of dark chocolate and malts. There was also a slight acidic and alcohol taste as well. The balance of flavors is great and so is this beer.
