Aroma of chocolate, molasses, breads, prune, raisin, marshmallow, and soy. Classic Baltic Porter/Imperial Stout. Chocolatey body with notes of soy, toast, raisin, and prune. Full-bodied, rich, and complex. Belongs in the Baltic Porter classification, of course. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

That blast of hops in the fore melds so nicely with the huge chocolate/coffee blast that follows. it is such a great sipping beer and I need to get a lot more of it.

This has that new car smell. Literally. Smells like a mix of vinyl and new leather. It’s actually not a bad smell though just unexpected. Beautiful looking. Poured black like a stout rather than dark brown like a true Baltic porter. Wow. This may be the best Flying Dog beer I have ever had. Very coffe tasting on first sip then fading into a mild bittersweet choclate flavor. More an Imperial Stout than a Baltic Porter flavor wise. I really like this. Very good mouthfeel and great sippabilty. Yes it is definitely the Best Flying Dog beer I have had by far. zach8270 (2150), Henrietta, New York, USA

Aroma is very roasty and malty with a lot of fruit notes to it. Smells like a mix between raspberries and strawberries. Very rich and roasty taste with lots of those fruit flavors as well as a coffee and roasted chocolate taste as well. Some caramel or toffee at the end with a nice bitter yet fruity aftertaste. Very thick and rich. OleR (2128), Oslo, Norway

Very aromatic; sweet and roasty with strong coffee, bitter chocolate, leather and smoke. Taste is a balanced blend of burnt dark malts, earthy bittering hops, coffee and bitter licorice. Full-bodied and smooth in the mouth. Long bitter ending. Very tasty, very powerful. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Dark roast grain nose. Lots of roast grains, coffee, molasses, raisen and dark dusty chocolate. The finish is sweetened coffee bitterness. The sweetness turns into white sugar as it warms. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 25, 2006 Bottle. Pours a deep black body with a large fluffy brown-yellow head. Luscious aroma - silky chocolate roast, vibrant citrus hops, and chalky yeast. Pretty heavy - kind of like a cross between a porter and an american strong ale. Lots of American hoppiness- resiny almost. Then some chocolate and caramel roastiness appears along with some yeasty alcohol burn. The palate is quite chewy and substantial. Sticky finish.
Very good.
