Commercial Description:
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 7.8% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

REALLY OVER-RATED. If this is gonna be called a Baltic Porter, then it needs to live up to it. Sorry, Eric, you missed boat here. Not sweet enough and the alcohol is actually to well hidden. Oh yeah, and HST was also very over-rated. What a blow hard!!!

(on bottle at CPH Yeha05)What a great nose of vanilla and coffe + that allspicyness. perky. more suttle flavour, roasted malts. The 9,5% is nowhere to feel in the finish, witch is creamy too. RERATE311207. After 2 years, my palate has changed, don´t find this beer some complex or thrilling any more. Had distinct traces of tobacco and wood in the nose.

12 oz bottle...espresso colored pour with a cocoa head. lots going on in the aroma...chocolate, wood, red apple, honey roasted nuts and dark dried fruits. flavor is milk chocolate, ash and smoke with an alcohol burn and a coffee aftertaste. medium to rich mouth feel that’s a bit to sticky and sweet.

Great look with foamy, tan head that laces nicely as it falls back to an opaque dark, dark body. Aroma is not terribly strong, but of chocolate, burnt malt and strong coffee. Taste is great... there is a brief burst of fruity sweetness that slowly fades into the coffee/chocolate endzone that you expected. These flavors play off eachother nicely and make for a great brew. I liked this one much more than I expected.

Bottle. Black with a big tan head. Aroma of toasted malts, chocolate and some citrus hops. Flavours are chocolate, coffee, hops and some just detectable alcohol. Lingering bitter finish, medium to full bodied. Very good.

Bottle pours a nearly black witha huge chocolatey brown head and lots of clingly lacing. Dark chocolate malts and notes of tootsie rolls. Some piney hops aromas as well. Flavors of dark roasted charcoal and quite hoppy. Evident ABV at over 9%. Hefty and smooth feel and very robust. Lots of smokey/bitter aftertaste.

Bottle, 2007. Pours black with a pretty thick dark tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast, rich sweet malt, chocolate, and alcohol. Flavor of rich sweet malt, slight roasted malt, dark fruits, and slight citrusy hops. Quite sweet. Very good beer! I wonder if it would be better fresh where you can really get a nice interplay betweeen the sweet malt and citrusy hops? Either way, this is a winner.

Bouteille de 355 ml (12 oz) par HogTownHarry (#800). Noir pure, collet moyen beige. Arome de réglisse noir et de petit fruits légèrement sucré. Goût de malte fruité, de petit fruits murient, réglisse noir avec un peu d’houblon doux.
