COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you donít show it the proper respect. IBUís: 85

A nice very dark brown almost black beer with about 3 fingers of head, brown sugar in color in a tulip glass. Aroma had a nice light aroma to it with some sweet chocolate followed by a perfect hop aroma, from the west coast with that hint of pineapple.!! Taste is pure sweet chocolate up front followed by just a little heat of the alcohol, not at all bad for a 9.2 abv. I think the abv kills off most of the IBUs as I canít taste much of the hop that has been added to this beer but at the same time the hops hides most of this 9+abv. Mouthfeel has a bit much carbonation but as it sits it improves much in this regard. This is a porter that will be nice and sweet in about 3 years out of the cellar...

12 oz single bottle from Applejack. Black appearance with a light brown head, lingering with sticky lacing. Roasty and malty with notes of sweet chocolate and light coffee. Medium to full body. A solid imperial porter, probably the best beer Iíve had from them.

Bottle @ home. Deep dark brown with mocha head. Aroma is smoky, toasted malt, semi-sweet chocolate, and a hint of raisin. Taste is mild and balanced. Full body for a porter, nice and creamy. Soft carbo.

From a bottle, black and opaque with tan head and light carbonation. Creamy texture with bitter chocolate and hops notes to the malty taste, leading to a brief nicely bitter finish.
