4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Really a pretty beer, deep and dark with a great big tan head and some decent lacing. I can smell it even as I’m pouring, a really pungent aroma of chocolate, dark fruit, some roasty goodness, and finishing up with some nice bitey hops. Right up front in the mouth I got a bunch of chocolate, going to some dark fruit and ending with a bit of astringency which balances it all out. I also got a bit of coffee and some alcohol (more of a fell than a taste) in there too. Certainly not light bodied, but a bit thinner than I was originally anticipating. Overall a great porter, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I would definitely try it again sometime.

Bottle from drinkshop.sk. Dark brown/black colour, very stable beige head. Rich aroma, malty, roasted, coffee, cacao, caramel, toffee, some dark fruits, quite a lot of hops. Taste full of roasted tones, dark, dried fruits, plums maybe, toffee, some malty sweetness. Quite high bitterness. Bitter and roasted aftertaste. Very good beer.

Besides Raging Bitch, I would qualify Gonzo as Flying Dog’s second best brew. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a large wine glass. The color is only black. A thin and dark tan head is perched above. The nose is rich in burnt sugar, dried plum, sweet caramel and dark roast coffee. The flavor hits up front with bitter cocoa and toffee lending toward a bitter roast at the end defined by a high volume roasted barley texture.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Color negro profundo con capa espesa de espuma marrón. Carbonatación a tope. Aroma a alcohol, coco y malta. Sabor a malta, primero; café, después; alcohol, finalmente. Deep, sí; complex? lo dudo bastante. Ya empiezo a cansarme de estas cervezas tan bien presentadas y tan normalitas. Si Hunter S. Thompson levantara la cabeza...

Pours black with a medium foamy mocha head. Aromas of dark chocolate, lactose, roasted malt, roasted nuts, muscovado sugar. Taste is roasted and malty with lovely dark bitter chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is creamy and fairly full bodied with moderate carbonation and also quite dry. Very nice.

Bottle 33cl. Black beer with very long lasting brown head. Malted, toasted, coffe, caramel aroma with a hint of aromatics hops. A surprising bitter taste with a strong roasty coffe full mouth. Even better at room temperature. A long bitter end. [08/2016]

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice roasted malts and noble hops aroma. Dark brown black with fluffy tan head. A nice chocolatey porter with a switch to bitterness after. Long bitterness a nice mix of hops and bitter coffee taste. Complex and full of character. Great porter, big bold take on the style, great beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
35cl bottle, snifter. Pours a huge, creamy, frothy and dark beige head, full black appearance. Smells sweet roasted, licorice, aromatic hops, with some hints of wood and vanilla. Tastes huge cocoa, mellow espresso, caramel, light smoked, with some delicate citrus notes. Medium to high sweetness and medium bitterness, balanced but a bit more on the sweet side, strong sweet and roasted malty character but with a balancing fresh hop profile. Medium bodied, creamy, moderate carbonation, semi dry and light smoked finish. This would be a perfect match with some italian "scorzette d’arancia", which are candied orange stripes covered in dark chocolate (with the peel), chocolatey and citrusy. Gets better as it reaches room temperature, feels half way between a porter and a black IPA, nice one.

Czarne nieprzejrzyste.
