COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

Black, with a thin light brown head. Aroma is dark fruit, alcohol, bread, not that pleasant, Taste is sweet. Less thick and creamy texture than I’d expected/hoped for, quite fizzy. Was reeally expecting more from this beer. It’s not one I’ll buy again.

Look: black, opaque. Aroma: tar, burned robusta, earthy mushroom notes. Taste: moderate to high sweetness balanced with hoppy bitterness. Flavour: tar, soy sauce, molasses, liquorice, rum. Some sweet alcohol rum-like notes in the finish. Very good.

Cellared for 1yr. Pours deep black with big frothy brown head. Aroma of cocoa, nuts, licorice, oats, toasted malts. Taste is medium bitter and sweet with aparent alcohol. Full bodied, soft carbonation. Another great brew from Flying Dog.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Opaque black, espresso head. Super rich molasses and drid fruit nose, slightly smoky, burned prun jam, burned rubber. Barely getting any alcohol. No real coffee/roast. The taste is similar, the big black sweetness being partially balanced by the solid hoppy bitterness and subtle roast. Smooth velvety body. Excellent.

Sample on tap @ the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan ring and plenty of lacing. Medium body. Roasted malts with a little coffee and sweet finish. Pretty enjoyable but not great.

Bottle from drinkshop.sk. Dark brown/black colour, very stable beige head. Rich aroma, malty, roasted, coffee, cacao, caramel, toffee, some dark fruits, quite a lot of hops. Taste full of roasted tones, dark, dried fruits, plums maybe, toffee, some malty sweetness. Quite high bitterness. Bitter and roasted aftertaste. Very good beer.

Besides Raging Bitch, I would qualify Gonzo as Flying Dog’s second best brew. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a large wine glass. The color is only black. A thin and dark tan head is perched above. The nose is rich in burnt sugar, dried plum, sweet caramel and dark roast coffee. The flavor hits up front with bitter cocoa and toffee lending toward a bitter roast at the end defined by a high volume roasted barley texture.

Color negro profundo con capa espesa de espuma marrón. Carbonatación a tope. Aroma a alcohol, coco y malta. Sabor a malta, primero; café, después; alcohol, finalmente. Deep, sí; complex? lo dudo bastante. Ya empiezo a cansarme de estas cervezas tan bien presentadas y tan normalitas. Si Hunter S. Thompson levantara la cabeza...

Pours black with a medium foamy mocha head. Aromas of dark chocolate, lactose, roasted malt, roasted nuts, muscovado sugar. Taste is roasted and malty with lovely dark bitter chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is creamy and fairly full bodied with moderate carbonation and also quite dry. Very nice.
