I’d buy a 6 pack def!!!! newshound (20), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 14, 2007 Bottles. Found 4-packs in Jacksonville, FL after finding out my current-native Austin, TX would not be getting it (WTF?) AN AMAZING BEER! Bought a case-worth, but couldn’t take it by plane. 2 years later, I drove three states to pick it up. A beer worth the wait! Now holding last 2 4-packs for the perfect occasion. Hunter S. Thompson would have loved some of this brew on a cold snowy night out at the ranch.
Pours a think oily black with hints of crimson and brown. Very strong alcohol content is obvious and appreciated. Has bite from carbonation and hops. Starts cold with a chocalate/smoke/fruit taste... blossoms as it warm to a sweet meatier taste. The aroma is seductive, haunts me all day long.
Serve with roasted pork marinated in red wine, cherries and garlic. Nejhleader (924), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2005 Updated: Mar 21, 2006i give this beer a perfect score because it is dedicated to Hunter S. Thompson the great writer. Given all this it is perhaps my favorite beer. johncandie (2), USA does not count Jan 12, 2008 Flying Dog Imperial Porter is now the official brew in my home. Great depth and breadth. Dark chocolate. Full bodied. Great kick. A delight. DKlovesbeer (172), Sarasota, Florida, USA Mar 15, 2007 Thick black beer with a thick milk chocolate head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is warm and malty with bursts of fruit, alcohol, hops, and coffee. Flavor is amazing with a full mouthfeel and a satisfying blend of bitterness, spicyness, maltyness, and goodness. This is one awesome beer!!! Callahan09 (7), USA does not count Mar 14, 2006 Well, the artwork on the bottles and packaging alone makes this one worthwhile. It’s a great display piece after you drank the bottle and cleaned it out. I love the Hunter S. Thompson quote on the packaging, and as I said the Ralph Steadman artwork is staggering. I love the aroma, it tastes about as good as it smells, and the feeling as it goes down is just delightful. You get drunk quickly, and you pay a pretty penny for it.
