Dark with a milky brown head. Nose is chocolate and fruity sweetness. Flavor is bitter chocolate, lots of hops. Some sourness. Finishes very dry. Leaves kind of a weird film in the mouth.

Dark yellow brown head, smallish, over fully opaque brown beer. American hops, dry and a lot of caramelized sugars, plus licorice. Dry stout taste, like dry, non-sweetened drop, even with the little salt the Dutchmen usually add. Real "sweetwood" flavour retronasal. Well bodied, very slick. Aftertaste suggest something heated above an Irish (Welsh?) turf fire. But it tires a bit - nothing else available.

Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a dark rich brown color with minimal tan head which dissipates to bubbles around edges of glass. Aroma is of rich malt, chocolate, cherry and alcohol. Fizzy on the tongue. Oily texture. Taste is of rich malt and moderate hops bitterness, alcohol, chocolate, caramel and some sour notes.

Bottle. Dark dark espresso brown with a thick tan head. Huge malts and hops in the aroma, chocolate, coffee, smoke, alcohol, slgihtly salty, cherries, slight wood notes. Flavor is strong coffee and malts up front but diminishes quickly with a fairly bitter but bland finish. Oily and metallic at the end also, not so great. On the verge of being a really great beer, but didn’t make it for me.

Strong version of the road dog eh? I like this beer MUCH more than that brew. Alcohol notes are present but not at all overpowering. Nice dry finish and malty, bitter body.

355ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours jet back, thick tan head. Big roast aromas with a chunk of resinous hops in there too. Chocolate and coffee on the taste, big bitter kick. Tastes as strong as it is. Nice.
