Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you donít show it the proper respect. IBUís: 85

Incredible. Besides being a huge HST fan, Iím a huge fan of this beer. Has a terrific aroma of coffee and roasted malts. What makes this beer even better is itís balance between itís ABV and its flavor. What a great beer.

Bottle from íTotal Wine & More.í Bottle labeled "Vintage 09HH" Pours almost black [dark red when small amount is held against the light] with a dark tan head. Smells and tastes roasted. Slightly bitter but not over-powering. Full bodied, with a thick texture. The carbonation is strong at first, but once the head disappears the carbonation settles down but never goes soft. The finish lasts for a long time with a strong start and mellows out over time. Overall Hunter S. Thompson would be proud with this amazing imperial porter.

Lovely beer, perfect color and appearance, and gives a good and healthy, natural taste. Strong but very balanced, complex yet friendly, a truly great porter. Drunk from bottle, gift from friend, 17.dec-10

Pours a small head, a nice lace coats the glass as you take this sucker down. The color is a dark brown, carbonation is low. The taste is exceptional with many great flavors tingling around and the right amour of hoppy finish. The 9.2 % ABV has the spirit of Hunter Thompson who once said he had a theory that "truth is never told during the nine-to-five hours." So kick back after work and swallow some candor called the "Gonzo Imperial Porter" by Flying Dog.

0.33l bottle. Black body brown head. Lots of chocolate and dark fruits in the aroma with some tobacco notes. A lot of chocolate, some dark fruits in the flavour. Big bodied beer. Extraordinary.

One of my great surprises of 2005. I didnít expect much from this one. The pour was obsidian with tons of floaties and a rich, medium, dark tan head. The aroma beckoned with huge spicy hops, tons of chocoff, dark malt. The taste was colossal; a mixture of heavy caramel/dark malt, coupled with chocoff, licorice, some almonds, blackstrap molasses. Very dense, complex, multi-faceted palate, with tons of complexity and balance. After I finished, I noticed concentric lace rings all the way down the glass. This one is very much like Alpha Klaus, but Iíd call it even a bit better. One of the best beers I have had all year so far, one of the best porters I have ever had, and Iíll be going back to clean out every local distributor that has this. I want more of this in a bad way.

This is a great looking and tasting beer. The alcohol is hardly noticeable in the taste but you can feel itís warming effects right from the start. Very dark brown in color with a tan lasting head. Very complex flavors including chocolate and fruit. Another outstanding beer from this brewery.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2005 A great beer. When I poured it I tried to look through it with some light. No way. This one is thick, Rich brown head and a roasty taste. Flavorful and rich on the palate. Aftesrtaste was a smoothe sweet coffee. Drunk all 4 and got drunk!
