COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

Pours an opaque black, with a huge foamy brown head. Aroma: Massive chocolate aroma, hints of malt and caramel, slightly nutty and toasty. Palate: thick bodied, but not syrupy or massively thick. Smooth. Long finish. Taste: Starts sweet, moves to slightly bitter, gets more intense in the finish. Nice long aftertaste.

Bottle at home. Very very dark red colour with brown head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts. Taste is deep roasted coffee and malt, sweet hint of dark fruit. Salty and bitter roast. Very unctuous and thick. Lovely actually. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is of roasted malt, earthly smells, caramel, coffee. It is black with a dark brown head with small amounts of lacing. Rich taste of caramel and earthly tones. The roasted malts give the feel a rich, very smooth experience on the palate.

resin, caramel, toast, earthy, leaves, coming from a thick creamy head on top of an extremely dark brown body that allows no light through, very bitter, salty. full bodied isnt enough to describe how thick this beer tastes as it goes down! oily creamy, lively, with a long bitter finish, quality stuff! bottle from beers of europe.

330ml bottle from Glug in the Grainger Market Newcastle. Served in a Hoegaarden snifter. Pitch black body, with a smooth dense tan head. Liquorice aroma. From the first sip, I realised I was on to something quite special. Not uncommon roasted malt porter flavours of liquorice and bitter chocolate, coffee and farmyard, but the exceptional depth of flavour and a rich, silky smooth texture mark this one out. Then, there is an astringent hop finish which adds piquancy to the whole experience. Easily the best beer I’ve had for a long while.

Pure luxury in a glass! Always loved the liquorice hit of a porter, then flying dog build it up with a sharp hop finish. Excellent beer.

Nitro tap. Beautiful big tan head with a black body. Taste is a little too hoppy for me for a porter. Almost like a black creamy IPA. This is an IPA lovers porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Shaker glass pour, black with a dark brown head, tastes of chocolate, coffee, and toasted malt with a hint of alcohol, has some bitterness to it but it is nicely balanced

poured into shaker glass. A pure black with no light able to come through. Almost brown head, small and fine with good thick lace. Aroma for me is almost pure licorice, with some chocolate and a nice earthiness. A thick one that gives a blast of bitter as it passes the tongue and the alcohol warms as it hits the belly. Alcohol is fairly hidden in the drink and comes out late in the finish. Taste is dark roasted malts, coffee and chocolate gaining in licorice late. Body is full, and texture is creamy with soft CO2. Very well done.
