Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 9.2% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

What an aroma! Chocolate, which gives way to cream (almost like strawberries with cream!), then toasted bread and bitter coffee…. The first mouthful prickles uncontrollably, not from carbon but from taste! Although “toast” dominates the flavor, hints of lemon – not to mention the lingering green-apple taste from the hops! – adds supremely delightful nuances to this wonderful brew. This imperial porter eschews chocolate in favor of cocoa, which in my opinion makes for a far better porter. The bottled version is much more nuanced than the draught version, although the latter has an undeniable drinkability which the subtleties of the bottled version naturally counter. A fantastic beer!

355ml bottle. Almost black with a thick tan head and lacing. Aroma: roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, liquorice. Taste: bitter, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, resin, liquorice, warming alcohol. Bitter finish. Rich and full bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Probably this brewery’s best beer.

Pours dark brown, large brown head. Aroma is malt, cola, cocoa lightly roasted coffee. Taste is rich malt, notable alcohol, bitterness, mouth puckering. No particular hops flavors - more like a porter with just the IBU’s added. More chocolate notes as it warms. First Imperial Porter I’ve had, not sure I like the style.

Black pour with small tan head. Aroma is powerful with coffee and roasted malts. Taste is similar with intense coffee, roasted malts and dark chocolate with a warming whack of alcohol at the end. Heavy body.

Czarne piwo, nieprzejrzyste. Posmak skórki chleba i paloności.

Wyśmienite piwo. Mógł nim wnosić toast za nie same. Świetny aromat, wygląd i zajebisty smak. Polecam!

Bottle at csakajo. Pitch black colour, small brown fast disscipating head. Nose is cocoa, roasted malts, light ash. Taste is medium bitterness. Cocoa powder light ashy sourness. Nice brew nontheless but I think it would be better with a fuller body.

355ml bottle. Consumed from the bottle, so can’t comment on the pour. The aroma has plenty of bitter espresso and dark chocolate, along with sweet spice hops. Quite strong hops for the style bring in herbs and sweet spice up front, with a huge whack of bitter dark chocolate in the mid-palate and a touch of espresso coming in at the finish. A very good example of the style.
