Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, light coffee, green tea and some dark fruit. Taste for me brings out more chocolate and coffee but the green tea shows up as it warms. Thick, rich, low carbonation, creamy, oily and smooth. Green tea is sort of weak and maybe that’s the plan, have it add to existing IRS flavors rather then compete. Interesting and good.

Draft at Churchkey. Pours a dark brown to black color with a medium plus sized creamy khaki head. The aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, herbal notes favoring green tea and a hint of peppers. The flavor is roasted malts, chocolate, herbal green tea, earthy, moderate bitterness and no sign of the abv. Smooth with a medium to medium plus body.

Appearance: Pours black opaque with light brown head.
Aroma: Aroma of light chocolate, tea notes.
Taste: Chocolate but not overly sweet, faint roast, faint bitterness, herbal notes of green tea.
Palate:Medium body, slightly thick, quick aftertaste.
Summary: Interesting version of the FD Imperial Stout. At times it’s hard for the green tea to come out in the flavor as the regular stoutness is a strong flavor, but an interesting beer nonetheless.

This one poured a darker brown color with a beige head. Aroma was heavy roast, light metal, and green hops. Flavor was mild green tea, mainly roast, some dark chocolate, and light metalic notes. OK, but a little off.

Semi-warm 750ml bottle shared with kristen. Pours a great black pour with nice dark brown ring of head. Nose is ever so slightly sweet raspberry note and roasty. Flavor has very earthy tones. Like bark of a tree or dirt. Very drying on the palate. Lots of dark cocoa. Not sure if the green tea helped this thing, but it was pretty decent.

Bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a thin khaki head. Nose is incredibly sweet, almost like cherry syrup. Touch of green tea evident. Taste opens with the syrupy sweetness and tea, leading to roasted malts and some smokiness. Palate is rich and syrupy with a decent carb. Interesting beer but wish the green tea was more obvious.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a medium sized dark brown-orange head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was toasty, a bit roasty and had faint touches of tea, coffee, vanilla and chocolate. The flavor was somewhat tart with a toasty presence and notes of black licorice, tea and cocoa. Medium length finish of cocoa, toasty malts and licorice. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Decent.

Keg @ brewdog mcr, earthy tones mixed with chocolate and caramel cherries bit of ginger and herbs medium carbonation. Nice enough but forgettable like most flying dog offerings.

Keg at the Rake - London. Pours oily black with a tight, creamy brown head. Aroma holds some dark malts, sugary dark fruits, a bit if algae. Big sweet flavor with some really interesting green tea character coming through. Thankfully there is none of the green tea bitterness; it’s mostly kind of a like an algae type flavor. There is also some sugary dark chocolate, dark cherries, grapes, raspberries, moderate roast, light bitterness. Full bodied average, massaging carbonation. Lightly sticky sweet finish with little alcohol impact, some further algae, sugary chocolate, dark bread, burnt sugars, very light earthy bitterness. A slow starter but this beer finishes strong. I imagine the green tea notes rub some folks the wrong way, but Inam really digging this beer. Creative and nicely realised.

750 mL bottle from Beer Run. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin dark brown head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee chocolate with an herbal hop and tea finish. The taste is roasted malts, licorice, chocolate, tea and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Interesting, but a tad bit cloying.

Appearance: The pour is near pitch black with the body mirroring this. The head is viscous appearing brown with excellent retention. I love stouts that look this mean.
Aroma: The aroma seems subdued, at the very least it’s indirect. The aroma lingers around the inside of my glass with hints of cocoa, tea, and roasted malts, but they seem distant. The aroma isn’t bad, it’s simply lacking strength.
Taste: The flavor is largely dominated by roasted malts and chocolate flavors that are prominent and switch dominance throughout the sip. The tea flavors are most pronounced on the lingering finish providing a slightly herbal quality.
Palate: Thick and chewy, carbonation is moderate. Great body.
Overall: This is a good beer, it has some flaws but it also has redeeming qualities. I would love to see the base stout bottled in 6 packs though.
