Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Sep 7, 2006 Small fluffy head of off-white bubbles. Good carbonation. Sweet malty aroma with some corn, honey and a bit of toast. Color is a bright golden orange. Sweet and malty flavor. Typical bock-ish. Some honey and a dry zippy bitterness. Not as smooth as it should be. Finish is kind of blah. More dryness and a bit of bitterness. There are many other better bocks out there. TomDecapolis (3128), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2006 Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a smaller bubbly white head that left light lacing. Aroma is all malts. Like freshly cracked barley malt. Sweet with caramel, toasted malts and some honey. This is one malty aroma. Cannot really detect any hop, yeast or alcohol presence. Maybe a very light fruitiness. Flavor is also very malty and slightly thinner than I expected after smelling all that malt. Can detect a slight hop profile in the flavor though, although not very distinct. Can pick up hints of honey, caramel and a light fruitiness in the flavor also. When I first cracked this and smelled it I thought it was going to turn out to be a good bock...turned out to be rather average to just below average. shrubber85 (2833), Wallhalben, Germany Sep 4, 2006 Bottle. Sour malt aroma - very lager-like. Clear orange-yellow color with small head. Sour malt primarily with moderate hops and astringency. Like a mixture of a bad pale lager and a mediocre bock. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Sep 2, 2006 looks like a bud. you know the piss color if you don’t drink enough water. malty nose and taste. not a fan really. rederic (1785), montréal, Quebec, Canada Aug 11, 2006 Bright honey gold color, with a small white head, sweet toasted malt and grainy malt, bready dough, light caramelized pale malt, hint of fruitiness in the aroma followsthrough on a medium-bodied palate with a crisp toasted malt character, a toffeeish accent, grainy, hint of honey, sweeet bready malt, maybe a hint of nutmeg spiciness, leading towards a honeyish and lingering hops bitterness finish. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Aug 5, 2006 Pours golden w/ a shallow creamy froth. Aroma is of bitter malt. Medium nectar w/ soft residual effers. Flavor is fruity maple, slight banana, honey, and tobacco. It has a nice bittering on the finish. rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Jul 31, 2006 Nose is caramel/butterscotch, light bockey-sulfur going on w. a hint of lemon. Flavor is rich malt, toffee, butterscotch. Nutty bock finish. Not bad but Flying Bison’s is nicer. Radek Kliber (3924), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Jul 24, 2006 Rich gold, neat contrasting crown. Good malty aroma, clean rich fruity nose. Solid bock aroma. Medium bodied, good well crafter lager that obviously was not rushed of lagering vessels. Gentle hop bite at top. Very neat, full drinkable, light refreshing character.
