Commercial Description:
Heller Hound Bock is a crisp and malty Maibock, brewed with a special combination of Vienna and Munich malts. With a rich mouth feel and a subtle hop finish this is the perfect brew for toasting the sun's return.

Copper. Airy, fizzy, white head. Nose of lightly toasted and lightly sweet malt, crisp grains, cereal, bitter, earthy hops. Same flavors with some subtle venom from the hops and a touch of spice. Medium body, balanced. Dry, bitter finish. Easy to drink, versatile session brew.

Bottle (12oz). Poured bright brassy gold, clear, with a small diminishing white head. Mild aroma of sweet ever so lightly toasted malt, slightly yeasty with cereal grain - oats? Taste follows, with some rich cedar oily character and apricot in the finish - very nice really, finishes a little bitter, something of a bitter peach pit finish. Decent body, fairly flat and oily mouthfeel - I want to say this is "tangy" - and more a golden ale than a bock.

Golden body, smallish head. Bready malts, grassy hops. Enjoyable yet simple. Flawless for what it is... but there’s so many better examples out there. In a blind taste test I wouldn’t have guessed this to be a bock.

Bottle. Pours with minimal head, color is clear golden brown with significant carbonation. Light aroma of sweet malts, noble hops. Taste is bitter, slightly metallic. Light spices, alcohol too prominant for this %. Noticable noble hops. Finish is a little green, hoppy.

A pale orange beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma is rather sweet and malty with a touch of alcohol. The flavor is very sweet and malty and again with the alcohol shining thru, leading to a dry bitter and alcoholic end.

12 oz bottle. Metallic, sweet caramel-buttery aroma. A little bit of pepperiness is also evident in the nose. Slight roastiness. Transparent yellow/golden color that is transparent with a frothy off-white head and fair lacing. Sweet, doughy start. Lots of breadiness and bisuity maltiness in the middle. Followed by some astringent bitter roastiness and metallic flavors as well. A little dry hop kick to finish. Your run of the mill maibock.

I have never drank a bock with such a light color (pale golden apperance). Aroma of caramel malts and a slight hoppiness accompanied by hint of spicy alcohol. Descent lacing and head formation. Flavor is medium with a concentration of caramel malt and a slight hop bitterness finish. Mouth feel is silky and mediumly carbonated. Not what I expected from a bock but maybe I just haven’t tasted enough of this style to be a judge.
