| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 10, 2007 Floral hops over nutty, toasty malts in the aroma. Lightly oily-hazy deep golden body topped by a decent white head that recedes to a large bubbled but lasting partial cover and ring with some lace. Nutty and toasty malts with grassy and floral hops . Fresh tasting with fruity esters that evoke peaches and pears. Bitterness lingers but some graininess is notable - in the aftertaste especially. Medium body with soft bubbled carbonation. Bottle sampled with Oakes in June 2007. Heathen (795), Riverside, New Jersey, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 6, 2007 THOUGHTS: A very harsh, bitter beer. Not really my cup of beer. I saw bock on the lable so I picked it up. This was definitely not what I was expecting. A truely unique beer, but not that great. Almost smells like just boiled wort. Too metallic for me. Gets a little better as it warms. A little more sweetness came out but still the metallic aftertast dominates.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light amber with an average, white head that slowly diminished and left fair lacing. Nice carbonation too. The aroma was moderate grain, hay and straw with some herby hops, doughy yeast and vegetables and cardboard. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, acidic and bitter, while the finish was moderately sweet and acidic, heavily gitter and sour with an average duration. The medium body was a little oily and syrupy with lightly fizzy carbonation and a very metallic finish. pintocb (509), Darsville, Georgia, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 4/20 | Jul 6, 2007 Golden color. Smells really malty. Odd nose to it. The taste is......bad. I guess bocks are the style I just don’t get. Feels wrong. Too thick tasting without having a thick mouthfeel. Glazed9884 (207), USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2007 12oz bottle. Clear gold colored body with a sticky, foamy off-white head. Semi-sweet toasted cereal grain and honey nose. Mild hop presence in the nose, husky, earthy, peaty hop aroma. Big hop presence taste, though, with toasted grains and bread and corn husk, turning slightly metallic and sour in the finish. Slick and moderately thick. Overall quite good, not as good as other heller bocks, and it kind of just tastes like Flying Dog, there’s something they do similar in almost every beer it seems. Regardless it’s a solid beer, refreshing. SSSteve (2062), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Clear, copper colour. Clean, slightly tosaty maltiness. Full body. Breadcrusty malts, light alcohol signature. Balanced, clean, a little bit refreshing. Seems to hit all the notes right down the middle.
