Aroma: biscuit, chocolate, raisns and other dried fruits; Appearance: very dark ruby, hazy, small tanned foam; Taste: very sweet, medium bitterness, some alcohol; Palate: rather full body, thick feel, sticky, very soft carbonation, long bitter and astringent (alcohol); Overall: very good beer but as for me a little too sweet

UPDATED: APR 26, 2013 a bottle from 2010.. I could smell this in the next room.. classic roasty caramel malt. taste is sweet and rich but it dries up pretty swiftly and leaves savoury finish.. very moreish as a result. goddamn. good stuff.

A reddish brown pour. Taste is sweet, alcohol, caramel, malt and fruits...missing some hops. Okay Barley Wine.

Bottle. Amber, quite clear. Old sweet malty, like a barley wine shoukd be. Deep caramel, a bit of spicyness. Body is thick, vanilla caramel maltiness. Lots of flavours, and pretty much what a BW should be like. Bitter also, wiping the sweetness off, and a bit of alc pushing through. I’ve never been a fan of this style, but afaik, this is a good, friendly and clean example of it.

12 oz bottle - 2013 vintage. Pours dark caramel-brown with scarlet highlights, small, tight, white head. Good lacing. Cohesive nose of cookie, dark bread, malted cocoa, light citrus and hop edge. Taste is caramel and figs, plummy grains, roasted nuts with nice hop finish. Medium-full bodied, nice balance, long giving finish with bit of honeyed cherries. Solid.

Bottle 0,355L. Brown/red/amber murky colour with tin creamy light brown head, that goes into a nice crown and lasts ’till the end. Strong fruity aroma of prunes, plums, raisin, brown sugar, liquor, caramel malt. After a while alcohol become very obvious. Taste is mixture of sweet and bitter and reminds me on some liquor drinks. Color ambrato carico con un velo di schiuma beige; aroma dolciastro e avvolgente con sentori di frutti rossi, biscotto, toffee e lievito. Gusto meno intenso del previsto, ricco però di note maltose, caramellate e fruttate; struttura sciropposa, effervescenza debole e corpo generoso. La lunga permanenza in cantina ha (forse) favorito l’accentuarsi degli aromi.

Very nice barley wine with excellent for the style body and smell of grapes and bread. Tastes of grapes and malt. No head at all. Only minus that after some time the alcohol makes a strong appearance.
