Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

One again a nice Flying Dog. Starting off thick with a load of plums in the nose and hops in the first taste. Some big carbo ending with a decent bitter finish. Full bodied with alcohol in the aroma. Nice one and quite different as being a bit sweetish with that high abv.

Pours out of the bottle in a light cloudy dark red colour with very low head and medium body. Nose of ripe plums and malt. Taste of mild hops, light malt, nuts, plums, chocolate and light whiskey. Light sour hints. Fruity-dry finish. I enjoyed it a lot - it was quaffable and nice to drink.

Brown with amber highlights - hazy. thin white head. Chocolate malt ball aroma with just a hint of marzipan. Tastes just like it smells. Malty, boozy and yummy. Viscous with long malt finish.

Pours dark brown with a short, fluffy khaki head. Nose is lots of toffee, dark fruits and honey. Sipped alongside an old foghorn, and it tasted a lot darker. Dark toffee, plum, booze, honey and caramel were all big in the taste. Also a dark, salty cocoa aftertaste. Lingering hop bitterness. Big barleywine, not to be approached lightly!

Appearance: Clear copper/ruby with cm thick ivory head. Aroma: Raisin, marzipan, fruit cake, dried fig, vinous verging on spiritous, resinous, treacle and touch of liqourice. Taste: Medium sweetness, medium bitterness, low/medium sourness, caramel/treacle, fruit cake and bready. Slightly salty finish. Palate: Smooth texture, medium body and mouthfeel, prickly carbonation, lingering alcohol warmth in a peppery, salty and astringent finish. Comments: Superb and left a glass lace.
