Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

aroma, I got deep old maltness, some flora hops, color, medium, amber, thick head, taste deep, malted milk like flavor, slight toffee notes, then a little hop bitterness, overall, tihs to me is a English stlye Barleywine, correct if Iam wrong, but is awesome!

Impresionante aspecto. Espuma beige, densa y duradera. @Botella. BB 2015/01/09

Horn dog pours a deep, murky root beer brown body that has many small floaters, the thin tan cap didnt leave hardly any lace. Aromas of dark sweet fruits like fig, plum, cherries and alcohol all showing up. Flavors of malts, bread, with slight fruit hints showing up, it was very sweet with an alcohol finish. Although it did have many flavors none stayed too long (no aftertaste), it wasnt as big or complex as other barleywines but that in itself isnt a bad thing. This might be a good ’starter’ for folks trying this style for the first time. Overall i thought it was pretty good and worth a try, but i probably wont get it again. Originally rated on 11/25/08.

Pours a deep, copper brown with very little foam. The aroma is lots of sweet stuff; honey, vanilla, molasses, pecans. The flavor is really rich and sweet. All of the sweet notes from the aroma are right up front, and then there’s a tingle from the hops at the end. One of the better Flying Dog beers I’ve had.

Bottle shared, around 7 years old. Hazy brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of rich overripe dark fruits, caramel, toffee, molasses, raisins and malt. Flavour is heavy sweet and above moderate bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. This one has aged pretty graciously.

Pours a burnt reddish brown color with a khaki head. Caramel, toffee, oak, raisin, molasses, toast and light chocolate aroma and flavors. Full body and average carbonation. Oak, toffee, caramel, toast and booze finish. 2015 bottle.

Barleywine is not a favorite style, but this is a decent big beer. Booze notes predominate, licorice more in the taste than the aroma. Reddish brown and full bodied, with a lingering aftertaste I did not exactly savor.
