3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 danhitch (17) - USA - DEC 1, 2007
Bottle: Poured a deep amber, almost purple with an off-white head. Aroma was licorice and red wine. Taste was slightly cola like with grape and brown sugar as well, and a little bit of a hoppy tang to it. Overall it was a bit on the sweet side but not terrible.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ptsotd (14) - Juliette, Georgia, USA - JUN 30, 2005
Pours from bottle (Vintage 04A) black and tawny, little to no head. Typical barley wine sniff of malt. Black forest. Or caramel cooked 10 seconds too long. But good. Is that rosemary hiding in there? Great bottlelabel by the way. Taste: much different than Sierra Nevada Bigfoot and Brooklyn Monster; a taste all its own, though maybe not quite as good as the two afore mentioned. Not licorice. Sugar free caramel, chocolate, malt malt malt. Malted milk and Pepsi? Yes, that’s it. Nice pallet, slow to drain. Coats the throat. Neat warming barley wine alcohol kick. When to drink this? Before sex, but not before breakfast. 75%.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 benvenuto (13) - Lauderdale, Minnesota, USA - FEB 21, 2007
Pours deep dark caramel into the glass with a small head. Appears a but hazy with sediment more apparent if not poured slowly.
Aroma is complex, bursting with malty, port wine, rum/coke, and sweet chewing tobacco aromas (Red Man I think).
Flavor follows closely, but there is a hoppy bitterness that makes all these flavors come together like a cheap port after brushing your teeth.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 halfluck (13) - East Victoria Park, AUSTRALIA - NOV 21, 2008
355ml bottle. pours with a decent head for a barley wine then dies down to a millimeter lacing is not to shabby either. smells like malty caramelly goodness, taste is pretty full bodied but quite smooth and the alcohol is well hidden. bitterness kind of hides in the background?
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 STiGNZ (11) - USA - MAY 1, 2010
Bottle from the Beer Store (NZ). Pours a muddy brown with no head. Caramel and Raisin on the nose. Pleasantly drinkable for such a high ABV beer. One of the better Barley Wines.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 zanaspus (10) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 14, 2012
Pours a dark amber/brown with a small head and a bit of lacing. Aroma is fruity malt and alcohol. Very nice and rich attack, however the mid palate and finish is a tad malty and quite boozy. Not bad, but....meh.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 rcmatthews (10) - USA - AUG 10, 2006
Taste improves as it warms, like you would expect. It’s not great, but its not too bad either. Fairly sweet, and smells like it too. I didnt really get any chocolate or cherry flavors, just an overpowering sweetness. Decent brew, but I probably wouldn’t buy it again, since it was relatively expensive for a four pack. Worth a try though.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 zanfiricoe (9) - Scottsville, New York, USA - JUL 28, 2002 does not count
Really enjoyed this Barley Wine from the start. Very Dark Amber color, with a tan and fairly long lasting head. A little sweet (which I tend to like) and a ton o’ malt. Should be sipped, but it was easy to forget how strong it was. The alcohol is not hidden, but neither does it distract from the overall presence. I’ll definately be buying more, as well as looking for a homebrew clone!
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ToXBoy (9) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 6, 2005 does not count
12 oz. bottle, Very little head some lace. Dark brown color, with a malty aroma with a touch of citrus. The mouth feel was of oil with a sweet malty flavor that has a bit of bettering hops that are no match for the hops. The alcohol is subtle at 10 % nice beer.

had this oneinthe fridge for over a year, don't know how old it was whe nI bought it. Slight refermentation brought up the carbonation a bit. Nice rich malt flavor that disappears off the palate a little too quickly, (probably form the referm...) good alcohol and a fairly well balanced brew. I'll have to try it again with a better sample.
