COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

pours very dark brown, mahogany color. I got no head outta this one, so no real lacing to speak of either. BIG malty taste with this one, a little bit sweet, not sure if i could drink more than 2 or 3 for that reason. Has just enough hops to balance out the malt just a bit, but is not bitter whatsoever. more i drink it the sweeter it seems to get. not sickening sweet just yet, but im thinkin maybe i could now only drink one of these bad boys at a time. Alcohol is also hidden very well in this one.

Deep amber in color with a wispy white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma has strong mineral notes punctuated by that of pineapple, butterscotch, and coconut. The actual flavor is remarkably intense with sweet, toasty notes giving way to a long, slightly bitter finish smacking of bittersweet chocolate, tart apple, and toasted malt. Have for dessert along a slice of peach pie and vanilla bean ice cream.

Looks deep copper-red. Aroma is syrupy and dark-fruit, cherry and plum. Flavour is dry malt and a bit of hop, with a long sweetish, dark fruity finish. Smooth in the mouth.

Pours hazy orange with small diminishing head with no lacing. Sweet fruity aroma with distinct malt notes and some alcohol. Full body with minimal carbonation. Taste of malt and fruit, no distinguishable hop but surprisingly bitter in taste and finish.

pours a dark amber color with an off white head. aroma has hops, some malt and dark fruit in it. Flavor is bitter at first but finishes very sweet. The aftertaste is a little too long and tends to be a little to fruity. A good barely wine with some interesting taste notes that are not for everybody.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2006 Pours a cloudy brown reminiscent of raisins. No head at all with a sweet malty aroma when swirled. Medium-light body. Initial sweetness gives way to a soft hoppiness then alcohol in the finish. There is also a tanginess detectable on the sides of the tongue at the back that seemed to hit right after the swallow. A good beer!

Horn dog pours a nice dark golden brown with a small fading head and that’s a-ok! Nose is of caramel, slight chocolate, and a faint citrus. flavor is very smooth, and it seems as though the hops really want to come thru. Think toasted caramel, light nut, married with a hint of dark chocolate. Nice and full bodied with a long finish. Great now & i can only imagine better with age!

Pours out a dark reddish brown with a very light brown small head. Not much of a smell to it. Taste is pretty complex, bitter and malty at the same time, tastes a bit chocolatey going down, and leaves a lingering slight licorice flavor in your mouth. That all being said, it still wasn’t anything too special, and I don’t think I’ll be purchasing it again.
