Wonderful cream coloured small head with medium to minimal lacing. Taste: Licorice, herbal, plums, vanilla. Palate: Busty amount of carbonation. Interesting feel and palate. 3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle, served in a snifter glass. Pretty good barleywine, and definitely one of Flying Dog’s better beers - but not the greatest.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark amber/brown colour with small and rapidly dissappearing head. Feint aroma of malts and some fruits. Taste is heavily sweet, full of malts with minimal bitterness and warming alcohol on the finish. Lo carbonation. Full body. Decent barley wine, not as good as Anchor’s.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
[Bottle / 2008 / 4 years old] Deep, dark brown & quite opaque. The light-tan colored head is gone within seconds with no retention. Big nose of grapes, figs, booze, licorice, & a sticky caramel backbone. Taste is similar; lots of alcohol warmth with tons of raisins, figs, anise, licorice, plums, toffee... Lots going on, but not very well put together. A little too sweet & a little too hot all at once with no balance happening. It’s not bad, but it’ll take you a while to finish the 7 oz bottle.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft (2014) at Flying Dog Brewery poured into a goblet. Pours an amber/caramel color with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, spices. Tastes of caramel, brown sugar, resin, light citrus, light booze, sweet fruit. Medium body with a sticky and dry finish. Also tried the 2013 vintage on draft, couldn’t tell a huge difference but maybe a bit less sweet with a year on it.

Färg : BRUN! Aromen lite söt krämig kola. Tycker den är rätr välbalanserad i smaken och kroppen hyffsad fyllig.

Really yeast, malty aroma, the head disappears quite quickly. Licorice flavour very prominent . Going to leave the beerto warm up before I drink the rest .

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml botte, pours dark brown with an off white head. Very caramel malty aroma, with fruity textures and a well balanced bitter finish. The sweetness of the malt is there but never becomes too sweet. Nice carbonation. Good barley wine.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle from jdb288. I rolled the bottle and a nice amount of yeast sediment was unseated. The result was a very hazy dark brown beer. Just a little head. An aroma that included dark fruit was noticed at a distance. Plums and raisins. Those are tasted along with big caramel malts. A really tasty beer that has a lot of good stuff going on.
