Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Bottle: Aroma is caramel and citrus hops. Pours a mostly transparent dark brown with a small off-white head. Lots of caramel up front. Finishes with lots of raisin, hops, and light chocolate. Donít really like all the raisin in the finish. Itís not horrible, but not great either.

Bottle from Santa
Pours a lush raisin-brown with an aroma of cotton candy and plumb. Slight lacing around the glass. Flavor is fermented peach with a raisin finish. Slight strawberry seems to be poking its head through. Palate is nice and slippery. Call this one "barleywine lite." Not bad; not bad at all. Iíd drink more of this one.

Pours a hazy reddish brown. Aromas of hops, caramel malts, kind of medicinal. Flavor is to strong for me, big alcohol taste, malty with a funky yeasty taste.

Not terrible. Big, rough, sweet, and unrefined. Off flavors everywhere but thankfully the intensity of them is pretty faint. Very drinkable if youíre not paying attention. Would probably be quite good to convert a malt liquor drinker, or for getting yourself drunk with something you wonít regret having opened without a notebook nearby.

Bottle. Snifter. A dry aroma, no real hops or malts to speak of. A smell of plaster if that makes sense. Pours a dark brown color with little head. Tastes, of medium hops and medium to high malts. Fairly sweet almost cloying. Far less complex than i was hoping for. Not bad but nothing special. Palate was not very big either.

Bottle pours dark copper with little to no head. Aroma is very mild with hints of raisin and alcohol. First taste is sweet fruit then alcohol and hops take over. Finish is dry with some hops burn but alcohol is definately present. Just not my style.

Pretty good. Lacks the balance of some other BW’s, but good none the less. A little too bitter and flat in the palate. Great aroma and appearance. Nice mouth feel.

Bottle at my new home in London:) Aroma is big rich sweet malt, mollasses character and some berry character. Taste is similar, big and super malty, like still alright an does the job, but a bit too rich and malty to be great.

Kind of a let down here. Maybe a good intro Barleywine, but everything is just too muted. I just like big beers, and this isn’t one. Everything you love ina barleywine, but toned way down. Malt backbone, hop profile. Very smooth and drinkable, just not what I want in a BW.

355 ml bottle from premier gourmet. fall 2007 bottling. brown/amber pour with a small tan head that is gone quickly. nice big malty nose but alcohol and sweetness ruin it. the flavour is overly sweet and filled with butterscotch aka diacetyl. mmmmm. rich full mouth of diacetyl goodness. way down hill after the aroma. im not likely to buy this one again.
