COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Deep amber in color with a very thin, almost non-existent tan head. Aroma of strong malt and maybe a little licorice with a touch of brandy. Flavor is malty with a dark fruitiness ... unlike some others, I can definitely taste the alcohol here. Silky mouthfeel ...spicy, dry finish. Very nice barleywine, but not quite as balanced as I had hoped. Still, very flavorful and pleasant.

(bottle) pours a slightly hazy dark ruby colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of herbal hops, burnt toffee and treacle, with hints of apricots, cherries, straciatella and light alcohol. flavour is caramel, brown sugar and raisins, though with surprisingly little sweetness, some dark fruits and a hint of alcohol in the finish. heavy-bodied with fizzy carbonation.

Bottle. Dark amber pour, negligible head. Toast, malts, nuts, caramel. Medium carbonation, medium-strong body. Without the carbonation to rough it up, it would be less drinkable (too sweet).

Very smooth and nuanced. Flavors were more mellow. Alcohol was in balance with the sweet character.

Nip sized bottle. 2008 Vintage. Poured an amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of nuts, toasty, some caramel, and some oxidation. Tastes of nuts, caramel, toffee, toast, some chocolate, and some dark fruits. Lighter alcohol in the finish.

355ml bottle. Poured deep ruby in color with a thin white head. Aroma has sweet fruits, raisins and dark bready malt. Flavor has raisins, figs, alcohol and is overall quite sweet. Long fruity, tasty finish. Very tasty barley wine, well balanced, full bodied. Alcohol coming through little too much.

Pours a deep copper color with a brown hue to it. Aroma is of heavy malt and mild chocolate. You can taste the high alcohol content but it is well hidden amongst the hops and sweet dark licorice flavor. Overall the best barleywine I’ve tasted.

Didn’t know this was still around, grabbed a bottle at the beer store. Poured a dark brown, small white head. Aromas of sweetness, malt, fruit and toffee. Taste is malty, spice, plum and caramel. A pretty good Barley Wine, enjoy getting this when I can.
