COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

This stuff looks great, dark mahogany with a sweet nose. The malts are really smelly/good. The taste is like better than say? totally sweet messes like MM Charley-wine. As good as bigfoot. Not quite the genius of Hog Heaven. Dark fruits, chocolate covered raisins galore. A bit of a cognac hit in the trailing off. Ends like a sweet worn-in fender reverb amp. This is a really good beer. Highly recommended.

12 oz bottle pours a copper red without any head. Faint aroma of banana. Malty, sweet and licorice flavors. Noticeable alcohol.

I’m not a huge fan of barley wines, but this stuff is pretty good. It has a sweet, floral aroma. The finish lingers and reminds me of honey with a bit of toffee and browned fruit. It definitely packs a wallop of alcohol but theres barely any booze on it. I don’t think mine was oak aged, but I do detect a hint of vanilla or wood on there.

Velmi zajímavá kombinace chutí a vůně. Musím přiznat že je dobře pitelné oproti třeba Anochor Old Fogrhorn který je spíše vhodný k pomalejšímu a klidnému vychutnávání.

Pours dark mohagony with little head. Smekl is sweet and fruity with a hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet, hint of cherry and chocolate. A taste of pepper. A good barley wine for the money.

355 ml bottle at home, poured into a snifter glass. ABV 10,2%. Deep amber brown colour on the body, with just a thin line of off-white foam, but this may be because I opened it too cold. I’ll let it warm up a bit for the second pour. Very nice aroma of sweet milk chocolate, some hints of the alcohol but very pleasant ones, like a good brandy, a bit of vanilla too, dark fruits as well. Strong taste with obvious alcohol, very sweet. Dark fruits here too, molasses, spices. Great aftertaste, less sweet, it tastes a bit like brandy too. Thick body, light carbonation, sticky palate. This is my first barley wine and I don’t have anything else to compare it with, but it was a damn good beer.

Bottled 0,33L. Dark amber/brown color, much charged and fraught aspect, very resistant and foamy head of long resistance. Whiskey, malty and caramel aroma, much perfumed with pleasantly notes of aged stum, alcohol and marc. Round and solid taste, full bodied with a prominent vinous and aged grapes and stum content. Sweetish and alcoholic final. I’m not a barley wine lover but this beer it’s surprising.

Bottle. Vintage 13BB (2013 I am assuming. Pours deep red-brown with a very thin beige head. Aroma is excellent; fruity, dark fruits, vanilla, alcohol, bread, floral, touch of bubblegum. Taste is nice, big, aggressive; dark fruits (plum, raisin, prune), grapes, alcohol, bread, hints of chocolate; finish is bitter fruit skin. Little lacing. Mouth feel is thick and oily. Carbonation is a bit higher than expected; medium-high with some very aggressive bubbles. Overall, I really enjoyed this. While alcohol is evident, the particular strength is well hidden. Full-bodied; flavorful.

beautyful ruby colour, minimal brownish off-white head; aroma of dried fruits, oak barrel, intensive malty sweetness and spicy alcohol; taste is fully dominated by malty sweetness with fruity notes, alcoholic warmth and some bitterness; lots of sweetness with bitter notes and alcohol - it’s really like a great liqueur
