COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
On the brink of extinction, they were plucked from obscurity and thrown into the spotlight. Facing ignorance and disinterest, someone saw potential...and knew they would be big. We’re not dishing on the latest undeserving Hollywood celebutante counting down their 15 minutes. We’re talking about the big, bold, and beautiful Centennial hops. With huge floral and citrus notes, these high alpha hops are one of the the industry’s few triple threats. They can be used for bittering, aroma, and flavor, which make them perfect for our latest Single Hop Imperial IPA.

On tap at The White Horse, Parsons Green, London, 05.08.11 Pours golden with a white bubbly head. There is an amazing feeling of warmth in the mouth like a slow steady chilli burn, whether this is just a combination of the hops and the alcohol I don’t know, but I rather like it. Lemon rind streaks around the mouth, touch sweet, in fact really quite sweet, but this is very good. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Serving: draft at Fireworks. Pours a hazy deep orange with a soft off white head. The nose is slightly vegetal with pine and pineapple notes. Very tropical with lots of pineapple and mango. Lasting bitterness on the backside. Rather sweet and a little thick.

Pours a honey colour with a little white lacing. Mild citrus aroma, someone on a previous review said dish soap, good call. Taste was lacking something for an Imperial IPA. Tasted malty rather than hoppy. Malt and again a little dish soap, with a bitter hop aftertaste. It’s not a bad beer, just not my favorite, and it feels out of style.

Had this on-tap at Pinocchios in Media, PA. The beer pours a cloudy, hazy amber with a healthy two-finger, off-white head which dissipated to a coating. Lacing was ample and lasting. The nose is citrus, as you would expect (especially orange and grapefruit) but there were floral and pine notes as well as some pepper. The taste was sweet with honey, mango and peach predominating but with plenty of hop bitterness to balance it well. This single hop is not replete with one of those super bitter finishes. Mouthfeel is medium with ample carbonation. There is very little hint of the 10% ABV, so beware. All-in-all, I liked this. Flying Dog has made a brew that was refreshing and I would go to it again.
