   AROMA 9/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 15/20

Sampled side by side with the centennial variety. Both had an identical dull golden pour with ring of near white head. I definitely prefer the aroma on this one. Big clean citrusy nose and a slightly skunky finish. Definitely more bitter than the centennial. I realize now that I REALLY dig citra for use as aroma hops, but not so much on flavoring or bittering. Still, pretty good DIPA in its own right.

Ooh, was not expecting this to be such a big boy! Anyway, 100th rating for this brew, from a fresh bottle. Nose is loaded up with rindy fruit, orange and tangerine with some grapefruit, lighter resin and oil. Sickly transparent orange body with a soapy off-white head. Taste in the mouth strongly sweet but balanced by strong bitterness; the former wins out in the end. Fullish body gently cleanses the palate and leaves behind a fruity, citric aftertaste. The sugar is thick here, the hop flavor a little suppressed by it, and the requisite oils and resinous character are squeezed out entirely. Still, clean and strong, and it really does hide the alcohol quite well.

Pours light amber/pinkish? with small white foam/bubble head. Aroma- grapefruit, dirt. Taste- malty grapefruit. Tart, dirt grapefruit aftertaste. Really smooth. Again, not a fan of grapefruit-dirt hops, but that’s really only strong in aftertaste. Smooth caramel? Appreciate. Almost plum in beginning, there is a caramel wave before low grapefruit-dirt end.

Citrius and pine hop aroma. Lots of sweet malt on the back end. Pretty good stuff but nowhere near zombie dust or fresh citra ninja.

Tap at Paradiso (Dupont). Pours orange with no head and a little bit of lacing. Notes of apricot, some toffee and lots of piney bitterness. Light sweetness and high bitter in the tastes. Medium body with lively carbonation. Well done.

Cloudy golden with a medium sized white head. Aroma is citrus and tropical fruits. Taste is earthy, yeasty and citrusy. Quite nice but not very complex.

Bottle. Golden color. Mango, citrus and a hint of hopoil in the aroma. Alcoholic flavor. Hopoil. A firm bitterness with some citrus and tropical fruit. Lovely aroma in a powerful beer.

Bottle. Pours with a clear golden yellow hued body with a large, barely off-white head that lasts. Good lace. Aromas are of insanely tropical fruit, dank hops. Somewhat off malt character that I use to refer to as soggy malt or wet dog. Still can’t find a better term for it (its not DMS), and I mostly get it from certain Canadian maltsters more than others. Mildly grassy, fruity, caramel. Flavors are very fruity, a bit alcohol forward, sweet, pepper, lots of grassy and tropical fruit notes. A bit of resiny cohumulone or other deeply harsh bittering sensation in an otherwise not very bitter balanced beer. Light butterscotch notes, warming, fruity, floral. Drinkable and enjoyable, but a bit not to my liking (yeast and malt wise). Good bitterness balance and good hop flavor. Warming with medium carbonation and a slightly fuller body with some minerals at the finish.
