3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours with a clear golden yellow hued body with a large, barely off-white head that lasts. Good lace. Aromas are of insanely tropical fruit, dank hops. Somewhat off malt character that I use to refer to as soggy malt or wet dog. Still canít find a better term for it (its not DMS), and I mostly get it from certain Canadian maltsters more than others. Mildly grassy, fruity, caramel. Flavors are very fruity, a bit alcohol forward, sweet, pepper, lots of grassy and tropical fruit notes. A bit of resiny cohumulone or other deeply harsh bittering sensation in an otherwise not very bitter balanced beer. Light butterscotch notes, warming, fruity, floral. Drinkable and enjoyable, but a bit not to my liking (yeast and malt wise). Good bitterness balance and good hop flavor. Warming with medium carbonation and a slightly fuller body with some minerals at the finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Golden tangerine pour with a small eggshell head that leaves as a wisp. Aroma subtle considering the aggressive flavor. Orange peel, tangelo, grapefruit, lemon, mango and papaya. Definitely has a tropical fruit presence. Invisible alcohol and not a ton of evergreen or caramel. Citrus forward, without doubt. Absolutely delicious!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells like youíre stepping into a pine tree processing plant! Catty, grassy and strong pine aromas rise off the crystal clear light copper body with a foamy white head. The first taste is as explosively hoppy as the aroma! Tons of resiny pine flavor followed by some grapefruit and pith. The bitterness lays down and puts your tongue in delicious hoppy straitjacket. But just as it peaks, some dark caramel and toffee sweetness comes through to balance it out almost perfectly. Then the alcohol steps up to sweep some of this away but leaves all the good parts behind. Thereís a bit of a citrusy lemon flavor in the background but itís beaten down by the heavier flavors. Needless to say, thereís a lot of bitterness left behind and the flavors make you want to take another sip immediately. Surprisingly easy to drink for a 10% ABV beer. This is one big, delicious IPA that I canít wait to try again.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle into a goblet. Golden amber, slight white head, fairly heavy lacing. Spicy, grassy citrus aroma. Taste is peppery, assertively bitter, pine, a bit of tropical fruit. Only Flying Dog could make citra this mediocre.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Golden amber pour with a white head. Smells like grapefruit and mango. Tons of layered citrus flavor, predominately grapefruit, but not overwhelming. Followed by a light malt body to smooth out the bitterness at the end. Malt hangs on after the bitterness fades. Very well rounded beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
BEAST! Super bitter, strong heavy flavor of pine and resin. Still, relatively (for 10%) easy drinking which leads to total palate decimation. Finishes dry. Probably the most aggressive of the single hop series.

On tap into a snifter at Maddyís Taproom in DC. Citra hop wallop of aroma, which was awesome. I really dig this new (ish) hop that came out of washington in 2007. I have used it in a couple of the beers I have brewed. Great representation of the hop. Clean super citrus flavors, with a just enough carmel malt backbone. Good lacing that sticks around. Just a solid representation of the hop. Well done.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Best before August 28, 2013.
Appearance: The body is clear with an amber hue, the head is thin and creamy with average retention.
Aroma: Aromas of peach, mango, oranges and pineapple come to mind, very tropical and enticing.
Taste: The beer is moderately bitter with a grapefruit tinge. Peach is on the intro with mango underlying the bitterness. This drinks nicely with a slightly herbal finish.
Palate: Medium bodied, a tad oily, with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is good, though Iím not sure I like the bitterness that Citra produces. I expected more flavor and aroma, but itís lacking a tad here. This is still solid though.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pizzeria Paradiso, Dupont tap ($6): Pours an orange color with a white head. Aroma is a hefty amount of citrus, with grapefruit and orange taking first whistle. Beer is rather hop forward as one would expect, leaving a sustained aftertaste for quite a while. Some complexity in the hop, but mostly this was a showcase for the citra hops.
