2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Best before February 24, 2013.
Appearance: This is a stunning beer from the perfectly clear amber body to the short, but dense, light tan head. The head has some lasting power and settles into a light coating with an uneven and messy dense ring.
Aroma: I have had many Simcoe heavy beers and to say it has any sort of set characteristic is silly. Every time I smell this hop it comes off as something different. I get some pineapple, faintly, with musky pine, and some caramel sweetness, but behind it all is a slight gasoline aroma. The aroma is faint, but Iím glad it is as the back-end of that smell is awful.
Taste: The flavor is sort of piney, sort of marijuana, sort of pineapple with a semi-sweet malt base. The finish is rough though, abrasive almost, with a very strong piney, almost gasoline, finish. Not digging that.
Palate: Full bodied, soft carbonation.
Overall: Oh boy I do not like this beer. Iím glad that the beer, overall, is very muted in aroma and flavor because this would be undrinkable then. This is hard to finish and I am only doing so because itís not so offensive as to drain pour it. This isnít a very good beer though.

Drought. Reddish amber with spongy beige head, floral hops aroma, sweetish hoppy taste, fizzy with long balanced finish. Very good IPA

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Bier & Cheese in Astoria. Thick orange brown, foamy head. Tart grapefruit, thick resinous hops, a bit soapy and thick sweetness. Deep thick hop finish. Hides abv well, but still needs some alc spice. Nice, but a little one note (and, with more of these single strain ipas, i donít think Iím a huge fan of this hop to be honest)

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear amber with about 1íí of head. The aroma is not strong with some weak pine and citrus notes as well as some caramel malt. Alcohol is also present. Taste is sweet up front and then transitions to a piney bitterness with a dry finish. Not bad but my least favorite out of the several Flying Dog Single Hop varieties I have tried.

12oz bottle from Crossroads Spirits. Drank after work with Bob F. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a finger of foamy off white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, caramel malt, and slightly yeasty. Taste of dank piney hops, citrus skins, orange, and sweet malt.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Simcoe is so under rated. Here it is in all its resiny pine glory. A clear amber with a fluffy lacing head. The aroma has the pine over a sweet malt base. Same for the flavor. No trace of the alcohol except for a burn on the throat. Nice dry finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at Pony Bar HK with Andrew, Ellen and Redi. Pours a clear golden body with short white head. Aroma is malt, strong pine, and oranges. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of rich, sweet caramel malt, pine, resin, salt, citrus fruits and spice. Didnít really taste the alcohol per se, but i have a feeling the off flavors are a result of boosting this up to double digit abv.
