Hazy gold appearance with a small white head and lots of lacing. Spicy aroma with a hint of citrus in the background. Tasted rye bread, spices, pepper, some yeastiness and herbal hops. Well hidden malt backbone. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel. The more the aftertaste lingers, the more interesting it gets.

A: Pours a golden amber color with less clarity than one would expect from an IPA - itís more akin to a Belgian tripel than anything. The head is a one finger off white color with mediocre retention/lacing. S: Very strong Belgian notes come through; coriander, clove, candied sugar, and a touch of funk. As an IPA though, I expect a little more in the way of grapefruit/pine notes, but other than that, I really like how it smells. T: Notes of bitter grapefruit from the dry hopping are prevalent at first, but after the bitter opening, the Belgian characteristics pull through, with hints of funk, spice, and candied sugar. The finish sees a return of the hoppy notes from the opening, subtly blended with the saison characteristics. Crisp, refreshing, and nicely balanced - not as clinically clean and bitter as Raging Bitch, but pretty much where it needs to be. M: Given its saison roots, itís very well carbonated and finishes quite dry - a sensation that works well with its hop profile, without getting overly chalky and astringent. Medium bodied and incredibly easy drinking. O: Color me impressed. It isnít perfect, but itís a solid hybrid of a saison and IPA, and is better balanced than Raging Bitch, too. Recommended.

Sixer picked up at Rickís in Alexandria. Served in a Flying Dog goblet. Pours a clear deep golden color with a nice two-finger head with good retention and some nice lacing on the way down. The nose carries some nice pepper and spice plus some floral and grassy hops. A touch of citrus there as well. Particularly as it warms, the pepper and spice really dominate. The flavor has a nice hop bitterness up front, followed by nice floral and earthy notes. A touch of spice in the background. Nice and integrated. Body is medium with just a slight chewiness and a moderate amount of bitterness to the finish. Dry and spicy. Well done. Iíll have to do a side by side with this and Raging Bitch.

Appearance: Pours a hazy yellow gold with a creamy white cap of film atop. Within the body you will see rising bubbles and a little bit of suspended yeast.

Aroma: Mens cologne, fruity yeast,honey.

Taste: Dry malt, spicy fuity yeast and sharp bitter hops in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with prickly carbonation.

Overall: A very nice farmhouse style ale. Very balanced and flavorful.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2013 355ml bottle. Pours a medium straw, white head. Yeasty, spicy aroma, quite hoppy, malt, grapefruit, spruce, mildly phenolic, earthy, rasin, tangerine. Dry, medium bodied, mid to high bitterness, balanced CO2. Yeasty taste, quite spicy, lots of lemon and grapefruit peel, herbal hop notes, malt, caramel, spruce, faintly funky? Odd, but interesting, nice Saison touch to a good IPA. (2012-03-25) (Re-rate 2013-08-25)

A pale ale with citra & Saison yeast. Dry, bitter, tropical with a hint of a sour aftertaste (like a good Saison should have) . Color is golden with a ferm white head. Al in al an ipa with a nice twist.

Brett dominated nose. Hazy amber, medium head. Tangy brett flavor, lemony cheese, if there is such a thing. Finishes with subtle grass hints. Funky, but lacking otherwise. Itís great if you are into that sort of thing.

In short: A rustic beer with a strong IPA tropical fruits hopping. Excellent
How: Bottle 750ml corked & caged. Consumed 3 months after buying it in Amsterdam
The look: Cloudy golden-blonde body topped by a large white head with good retention
In long: Nose is slightly rustic Saison and also plenty of tropical fruits hoppy notes and thankfully none of the cat urine I get from so many Citra hopped beers. From the aroma this beers delivers exactly what it claims to be, a farmhouse (Saison-ish) IPA. Taste is very nice but not quite as impressive as the nose. Well malted and very yeasty with taste of apples, bitter grapefruits, tropical and exotic fruits, sawdust, dusty attic. Finish has a sharp bitterness and it is quite dry. All in all this beer delivered exactly what it was supposed to, a Saison-ish rustic IPA. And being a Saison-head and a hop-head, obviously I loved that beer. I really didnít think this beer would be that good, I should have bought more bottles but now itís too late because Iím back home, Iím really hating myself right now, so if I donít rate any beer ever after this oneÖ consider this my suicide note.
