3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 dec23 (52) - Amsterdam, - APR 23, 2011
This beer has a very beautiful smell. A mix of wild flowers, fermented fruit and marzipan. Doesn’t look very special though. A foamy head reminiscent of too much dishcleaner. The head also collapses really fast. It has a pretty standard transparent honey colour that doesn’t tell you much. The taste is strong, hoppy and well defined. The palate is what really makes this beer lift off. It remains on your tastebuds with a peppery hoppy taste that has added notes of something that reminds me of beeswax. It would get 5 on the palate rating from me if i didn’t find it a bit too intense and overbearing. Could be more subtle.

not a bad beer though im not a huge IPA fan. nicely balanced and not overtly hoppy. i guess because its a saison?
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Nephilium (954) - Ohio, USA - JUN 2, 2012
The aroma is very complex, with Citra hop notes, as well as earthy notes and spicy notes from the yeast. Pours a hazy straw-yellow, with a giant white head. I’m not sure I would class this as a Saison, as the label calls it a Farmhouse IPA. There are a lot of similarities between this and the Raging Bitch. This beer is light in body, with a nice interweaving of the Citra hops with the earthy notes of the yeast. This is a really good beer, and if you like Belgian style IPA’s, I would highly recommend it.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 JFURYCAT (1008) - East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 1, 2012
Aroma of peppery fruits and flavor boasts that leathery saison yeast with the citrus on the back end. A bit too unbalanced for me as the citra hops seem to climb through and their grapefruit tone seems to clash with the rather sour envelope generated by the yeast. Like licking a grapefruit flavored envelope. Body is nice with dry character and carbonation gives it a zest.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 FunkyBrewster (1385) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 1, 2012
12 oz bottle. Pours a bright slightly hazy orange with a big rocky white head. Aroma is yeasty, very spicy, with a fair amount of citrus. Herbal with some floral character. Flavor has a strong spice to it, very herbal, citric with some grassy notes, and a bit of a cereal note. in the slightly grainy and bitter finish. Medium body and a sharp carbonation.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MoritzF (7402) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAY 31, 2012
(bottle, 35.5cl) Slightly hazy, golden colour with a big and slightly off-white foamy head. Smells quite Belgian: mildly sweet (cara-)malty and sourish wheaty aroma with spicy yeasty notes and a touch of ripe fruits. Moderately bitter flavour with a tinge of sourness far in the background, medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Mildly grainy cara-malty taste with spicy yeasts and fruity notes of apples and citrus; dry-ish bitter-sweet yeasty and hop-spicy finish with fruity spots. More a Saison than an IPA, finally I´d prefer their Raging Bitch. 19.V.12

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 NobleSquirrel (2677) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 31, 2012
Bottle with the Pipeworks guys. Surprised by this one. Pours a nice looking deep gold with a persistent white head. Nose is softly Belgian and fruity, passionfruit and mangoes. Really nice nose on this one, though not a saison. On tasting, medium bitterness, crisp and dry. Juicy fruits permeate, along with some soft white pepper. Clean and fresh, this is a really really good beer. Just not a saison.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ughsmash (5836) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 30, 2012
Bottled. Poured very bright golden with a towering, sticky white head. The aroma picked up cloves, orange peel, and assorted white spices over some pale malts.. strangely intriguing. The flavor found light fruit and crisp bready malt at the core, with bitter orange peel, cloves, and grains of paradise around.. more tasty Citra on the dry, refreshing finish. Lighter-bodied, but filling due to high carbonation on the palate.. this was strange, but overall I enjoyed it.
