Commercial Description:
Brewed in the centuries old tradition of German beers, our brewers use more wheat and proprietary yeast to give it the unmistakable character of a flavorful, authentic Hefeweizen. The High proportion of wheat gives In Heat its smooth, full-mouth feel and our special yeast gives it its unique fruity and spicy aroma.

(bottle poured into pint glass) This was much darker than I would expect from a hefeweizen... almost amber it was such a dark yellow. There was absolutely no head to speak of and the same goes for any lacing on the glass. Aroma was heavy of an almost honey like sweetness with hints of fruit. I could pick up a little banana and apple, which was a tad disconcerting. In the mouth, it was rather solid, having a nice creamy feel with lively carbonation. The fruit and honey remained throughout, with a little hop bite at the end, but there was no real aftertaste. Not something I would go back to again and again, but it was refreshing nonetheless, especially in cutting the hot wings I was having at the time.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Cloudy, orange-golden colour with a blond and medium-sized, but non-persistent frothy head. Sour and slightly sweet wheat-malty aroma with fruity notes of citrus and banana, accompanied by rather strong clovy spices. Moderately sweet and sour flavour, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Wheat.malty and yeasty taste with present spicy notes that cover a lot of the fruit-character; rather slim and yeasty, subtle fruity and tart finish with cloves and shades of herbal hops. Drinkable but rather unconvincing Hefeweizen. 20.XI.09

21st August 2008. Cloudy amber beer - wheaty and slightly malty. Not much else to say. Serviceable but I expect better from this brewery.

Not horrible, but nothing special either. Slight citrus hop nose which comes out much more distinctly in the flavor. Nothing special but it was the best beer on at at this place.

Wow. Best American attempt at a Germain Hefeweizen that I’ve had to date. Everything is damn near identical to my favourites. Perhaps a tad bit more spicy than say Franziskaner or Paulaner but still very classical. This is my first Flying Dog beer and I have a feeling it wont be the last. Good start. Good beer.

bottle - Pours light amber with insignificant small, off-white head. Sweet, yeasty nose with some notes of citrus, bubblegum, and apple. Flavor a bit flat, a little yeast with a bit of honey but not much going on there. It was refreshing but was missing something.
