3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Volgon (2761) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 4, 2002
12 OZ bottle, drank at room temp. A nice attempt by an American brewery for the style. I’ll gave another a shot a bit colder and see if I like it better.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Gusler (2653) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAY 25, 2002
Hazy orange in color, white head and decent lace, the nose is malt, earthy, slightly citrus. Front is sweet, the top thin, the finish is acidic, dry, nicely hopped. Drinkable and fresh tasting beer, decent but not great.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 VA Homebrewer (525) - Portsmouth, Virginia, USA - MAY 25, 2002
Hmmm...smells like a hefeweizen; looks like a hefeweizen; doesn’t taste like a hefeweizen. Only flavors in there are malt and yeast. No dry finish, no spice. Nice hazy golden color though. Looked & smelled promising before falling flat on the first sip. I’ll pass on this - and most of their line - in the future.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Merc (313) - Pullman, Washington, USA - MAY 22, 2002
Very dissapointing hefeweizen. None of the qualities one would hope for - no citrus, no spice, no banana, hardly any wheat quality at all.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fraternie (777) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 12, 2002
Surprisingly enjoyable. Crisp and flavorful, but a little too dry of a finish.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 igneous1 (1469) - Davenport, Iowa, USA - APR 8, 2002
this beer had a promising start...nice appearance, decent head...the aroma was there for a good hefeweizen (albeit a little subtle), but the flavor was just lacking...not enough of the typical german wheat flavor.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Choke (96) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 4, 2002
definatley not a paulaner but not a bad brew all in all

Man, why make a middle of the road wheat like this? It claims to step up to the plate, ’in the tradition of German hefes’, C’mon. If your gonna pay for a heffe premium, reach for the Paulaner, the Aventinus, the Schneider, and thats the stuff. It has some citrusy flavors, the usual action, didn’t hold a head too long, and let’s you toss in the goody at the bottom, but don’t hold this up as a shining example of the form, let me down a little.

yeasty buttery nose. yellow and cloudy. yeasty with lots of banana.

A hazy medium yellow. Decent head. Sweet nose of wheat and clove. Lively in mouth, turns very creamy as you swish it around. Banana, wheat, spices and balance make this one smooth, drinkable, satisfying damn good hefe. Drink on boys.
