GMUcrew7 (353), Mason, Ohio, USA May 2, 2008 Pours cloudy golden orange with beige head. Wheat and spicy aroma. Flavor moderately spicy, but the predominant flavor is wheat, and the finish is surprisingly banana bread like. This style of beer is probably my least favorite, so I’m not the best to judge, but I enjoyed this beer more than most hefeweizens, probably because it seems more malty and the aforementioned banana bread finish. caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands May 2, 2008 Bottled. Cloudy golden color, short white head. Aroma is very grainy, some yeast, hint of banana and hop. Thick grainy taste, yeast, quite bitter. Very heavy on the stomach. FlyingSwine (169), Littleton, Colorado, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours a mostly clear gold, with a medium off-white head, and lots of fizzy bubbles. Not as much cloudiness as is normally found in a wheat beer. Smells like a Hefeweizen, sweet grain aroma. Tastes a bit like a Wit (corriander and citrus) but without the spice. Palate is medium, and slightly fizzy. FatguyRacer (129), Crownsville, Maryland, USA Apr 25, 2008 Bottle. Came in a variety pack of other Flying Dog brews. Called In Heat Wheat. Pours cloudy yellow with a little to no head. Aromas of wheat and yeast. Wheat, citiris and hop flavor. None overwhelming or outstanding. A good every day hefe. A rung below Sam Adams Hefe. Again witht the cool label. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Apr 25, 2008 Bottle from Utobeer. Cloudy orange gold with thin white head. Cereal, lemon, bit of spice on aromas. It’s alright, not very deep or intense. Lemon and hops on finish are decent. It’s alright, decent for the style. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing great. Hop/citrus finish is ok. clong83 (243), San Diego, California, USA Apr 24, 2008 Bottle. Lemony and citrusy, Flavor is good and sweet, but a bit thin. This beer is okay and certainly nonoffensive, but there are much better wheats out there. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 24, 2008 First flying dog beer i had. It poured a nice cloudy golden colour, large white head. aroma of wheat is very soft, but pleasent. accompanied by a soft citrusy taste. jacare (21), Hinsdale, Illinois, USA Apr 22, 2008 Normally I drink the German wheats, but I picked a six of these up to try them. Poured into a weizen glass, forget it. Not the greatest smell, and the taste is so-so. But here’s the thing. I had these bottles in my refrigerator, and if you drink them right out of the bottle they are not bad at all. A nice interesting sweet flavor. So I would recomend this beer for standing out by the grill and drinking right out of the bottle. Really good that way.
