Commercial Description:
Brewed in the centuries old tradition of German beers, our brewers use more wheat and proprietary yeast to give it the unmistakable character of a flavorful, authentic Hefeweizen. The High proportion of wheat gives In Heat its smooth, full-mouth feel and our special yeast gives it its unique fruity and spicy aroma.

Draft at Flying Saucer. Pours amber golden with a dissipating white head. Aroma of banana esters, but not aggressive. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavor of banana bread with some slight toastiness and lemon. Some hop detection mid palate. This lost me on the finish, which has some sour butteryness. Not really a classic hefe. This is more of an hefe influenced American Wheat.

Cloudy yellow body with a very small white ring of foam. Lemon and hay on the nose, not much hefe-bananas here. Taste is banana flavoured lemon juice. Although the body is light and crisp, it has all the hay/wheat I expect from the genre. A little hop presence. The beer is refreshing but it gets a bit annoying by the end of a single bottle although I couldn’t quite figure out why exactly. Overall this is a rather typical but slightly below average hefeweizen. My motto: less drinking of In-Heat Wheat, more drinking with in-heat girls.

Bottled. Poured hazy medium golden with chunks from the end of the pour.. thin white dusting stuck around for head. The aroma picked up sweet, lightly toasted banana, some sour lighter fruits and wheaty notes, and cloves. The flavor had grainy, toasted banana esters at the core, surrounded by cloves and peppery notes, with tacky sour wheat, banana, and cloves again at the finish.. not bad by any means, but somewhat muddled. Lighter-bodied on the palate, spicy, and refreshing.. good feel to it, save for some sticky notes at the end.

Super cloudy dull yellow-orange color. Heaping amounts of yeast gathered from the bottle of the bottle - typical wheat style funky coriander spice but lighter on the lemon/citrus that balances it out. Light on the hops but heavy on the unused yeast. Wheat beers are supposed to be pulled early, but probably just a bit too early. Otherwise not at all bad.

I like wheat beers. I did not like this wheat beer. It is now serving as my example when I make a joke about how bad some beers are.
