Cajun (144), New Iberia, Louisiana, USA Jan 25, 2007 Not very good. I couldn’t tell I was drinking beer. Yellowish color, foamy white head, fruity aroma, hint of some citrus. Perhaps I prefer more hoppy beers and Hefeweizen is just not for me. Although, I’ve tried other wheat beers that I’ve enjoyed. Maybe I’ll give it one more chance, or maybe I’ll give the rest away. seminole22 (11), columbia, South Carolina, USA Jan 19, 2007 This beer stinks. The beer just had no flavor and had a bad aftertaste. I think Flying Dog need to re-evaluate what they are trying to accomplish with this beer. I have 2 left in the fridge and as much as it pains me to throw beer away, I might have to with this beer. I will never buy it again. BeerBaronLS (85), Grove City, Ohio, USA Jan 17, 2007 A drinkable wheat; nothing special. I’m rating this from memory, so maybe I’ll rerate next time I get it, which will probably be in another variety pack. animal8788 (32), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 13, 2007 Smells wheaty and spicy, but not a strong smell. It’s yellow with a moderate amount of white head that disappears quickly. Tastes wheat and hops initially, then it’s a little sugary and then somewhat bitter in the aftertaste. “Tastes pretty good,” – Brad. I say it could use a little more body, it’s somewhat watery. BiochemProf (53), Boone, North Carolina, USA Jan 11, 2007 Cloudy golden pour with a minimal white head. Aroma of bananas, cloves, and nutmeg. Warm butterscotch flavor. I usually don’t care for wheat beers but this one was quite tasty. Perhaps it was just tasted at the right place and time or perhaps my tastes are changing. Bring on the hefeweizen! bendz1 (86), Ankeny, Iowa, USA Jan 1, 2007 Cloudy yellow colored beer. I half expected some red tones given the name. I was suprised by it’s hint of fruit flavor. RedXIII (127), Powell, Ohio, USA Dec 28, 2006 Maybe my palate just isn’t made for this beer. Second time I’ve tried this in a Flying Dog sampler and frankly it’s terrible. Decent appearance and aroma with a cloudy off-yellow color and faint scents of fruit and bread. But the taste and finish I couldn’t even muscle through to the end. I couldn’t even give it away to be honest. Cornsloth (16), East Wenatchee, Washington, USA Dec 26, 2006 A very hazy yellow/orange color, with an almost white head. Smells a little to sweet. A decent fruity taste, that feels almost right going down.
After getting the feel for this beer I’d wished that I had picked up something else instead, I really didn’t want to finish the glass I’d poured. It was good enough, but was a bit off in all categories.
