Lawger (110) - SWEDEN - JUN 11, 2014
Dark brown, clear colour. Sweetish malty scents and caramel with some iron on the nose. Fresh and appeticing but not too exciting. Quite fresh to taste with some butterscotch and light roasted malt. Regrettably short finish. Quite tasty, but looses points for lack of complexity and length.

Malty. Loads of caramel and toast characteristics. Not very complex, a one-not player

mzaar (1659) - Varberg, SWEDEN - MAY 20, 2014
Flaska från SB. Mörkbrun med smutsvitt skum. Dofter av torkad frukt, karamell och malt. Smakinslag av malt, russin, plommon och karamell. Sötman håller sig på rätt sida av vad som är gott, beskan hade önskats mer av.

imdownthepub (10497) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2014
Bottled 355ml from Beers of Europe, Norfolk. Dark brown with off white head. There is quite a rich maltiness to this, chocolate roast, malted biscuits, fruity, mushy strawberry then some caramelised notes. There is a toffee background, nice and full. A decent enough beer.

Bottle at home from drinkstore. Pours murky brown. Aroma is dark fruits, cherries, blackberry, clove. Dark sugary malt flavour, fruity end with mild bitterness. Medium body, abv managed well. Low carbonation. Okay but I’m 6 months too late for this style

Chudwick (2173) - Cincyucky, Kentucky, USA - APR 29, 2014
12oz bottle into Le Guiness - nose is grassy caramel. Sips enhances the grassy/weedy character. Mild to mild heavy bitterness with less sweetness. Not a winter warmer in my book, but more of an off season warmer. Spicy bouquet of nutme or cinnamon or some other potpourri variety.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a clear brown amber with a small white head. Slightly sweet, malty aroma. With a sweet, spicy, malt with a bitter aftertaste.

tfredvik (1155) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 7, 2014
Clear, medium amber body with a rather small, bubbly, off-white head that almost disappears completely, ok lacing. Strong and sweet aroma of sweet caramel, dark dried fruits and fresh fruits, especially well ripe banana. Moderate sweet taste with a long, moderate bitter resinous finish. Moderate flavour of caramel, dark dried fruits, plum, alcohol and hints of banana. Medium body, smooth texture, soft to moderate carbonation. A nice one. Maybe I’m finally beginning to appreciate English strong ales.
[35.5 cl bottle, from Vinmonopolet Ullevål, Oslo]
