Reviewed 12/17/2012. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark chestnut color with a good amount of clarity. While the offwhite colored head has a nice texture, it quickly fades into a very thin collar - and isnít impressive to start with at less than one finger. The body is pretty beautiful, at least. S: Has a definite graham cracker and chocolate vibe to the aroma. When given the chance to warm up, it develops a prune-like character to it. There isnít much in the way of spicing other than a touch of cinnamon. T: Iím surprised how bitter this is. There is almost no sweetness to the caramel and toasted malts - if there is, I sure as shit donít notice it. Normally, this is a good thing for me. But this bitterness works against everything else, ruining both the balance and potential subtleties the spicing could have provided. After a while of warming up, some Centennial hops seem to make an appearance after the midtaste, almost as if itís trying (and failing) to ape SN Celebration in a manner. Not horrible, but everything just seems out of whack, and without any distinctness to any of the flavor notes. M: The finish is dry and astringent. The problem is, itís not in a balanced manner, increasing the harshness of it. Even worse is the general chalkiness of the feel, which Iím no fan of either. All it does is make the texture feel thicker without really feeling substantial. O: STís 2XMAS planted a seed of doubt toward my general dislike of winter warmers. Even if itís not a great example of the style, this makes me remember why I donít really care for the typical winter warmer. It feels off for some reason.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. Just so-so with little to recommend it above anything else. Pretty much a disappointment,

355ml bottle at home. Clear amber with a medium white soapy head. Medium body with low carbonation. Quite sweet with some bitter tones. Malts, dark fruits, caramel and clove. Ok, but somehow not my brew.

Beautiful clear ruby beer with a thick white foam layer. The smell is a tiny bit fruity and slightly caramelly. The taste is full and strong without being too heavy and weirdly a tiny bit watery. Caramel and licorice aromas. Good, but rather simple despite its strong characteristics.

Beautiful amber-ruby color with big white head. Aroma is toffee, booze, candied fruits, prunes, spicy. Taste is spicy, fruity, full, but something is missing... Finish is pleasant but nothing special. This beer is unusual. Wintery is sorta true.

Clear deep amber with almost no head or lacing. Faint smell of vegetables and malt. Smooth mothfeel and low carbonation. Tase of dark malt, caramell and prunes. Fruity aftertaste.

On tap at Green Turtle in Annapolis. Pours murky brown, smell of ttoffee malts and spices. Flavor includes plenty of spice. Not completely off-putting. Maybe worth trying if youíve got no other options around (the case at GT).

Bottle from Systembolaget, sweden. Big and lasting brown head. Clowdy red-brown color. Big pale malty aroma with a tuch of caramell. Caramell malty taste but low sweetness and balanced body with a medium bitterness. The big alcohidden in the beer.ole content is not present and well the beer.
