Not bad, but there are better Winter Warmers out there. Apperance was nice, poured a reddish brown with a figer or so of foam. The head lasted for some time. Looked tasty Aroma, ale yeast was present, along with some fruit, cherry and current. Initially the taste is fruity with the cherry and current flavors coming through, a nice balanced hop flavor is clear throughout the taste (I would assume Northern Brewer or Bullion hops). The balance of the initial flavors is overshawdowed on the back in by strong ale yeast flavors. Mouthfeel is normal, and the drinkability is somewhat lower than expected. Avery Old Jubilation is a very similar beer in flavor, but much better in my opinion.

330ml bottle served in a chalice. A: Pours a clear deep amber to chestnut (copper) color forming a medium beige and bubbled head. Good retention and a lot of lacings left in the glass S: Sweet in the nose. Caramel malts, candy sugar, basically. Sweet and refreshing. Reminds a English Bitter. End is hoppy and bitter. Grassy earthy hops T: Follows the nose: Sweet upfront. Notes of caramel malts, candy sugar, roasted malts and hops. End is grassy and hoppy. Refreshing M: Medium body and carbonation. A bit molasses. No alcohol can be felt despite the reasonable 7.4% ABV O: Good drinkability. A bit sweet but refreshing and tasty beer [ BA Review @ 11/21/2010 ]

The beer evacuates the 12-ounce brown bottle a deep brown color with a modest semi-creamy light tan head that evaporates rather quickly leaving a thin but sealing sheet of lace. Nose is sweet malt, light hint of hops and caramel, fresh and crisp to the senses, start is sweet with a fair grain profile, the top is light to moderate in feel. Finish is briskly acidic, the hops sufficient in their spiciness, a drinkable beer.

Bottled ; IN an Orval goblet ...nose is like slices of malt covered in alcohol -with nuts ..and dried fruit (raisin prune )some grapey chocolate ...weird wet paint notes . resemblance with a young Fullers Vintage bottle somewhat . murky brown with very little head . certainly is somewhat English in character profile - . its like a fruit cake covered in figs or something ,caramel ,booze , butter , nuts ,exactly what i visualize when i swill this
.On the palate nice unity between roast and richness ..nutty cake textures and accents mesh well . very mild floral bitterness but its subtle . fucken smooth stuff ; this agress with my UK palate schooling . -

"one of several winter brews picked up in seattle, and my least favorite of the bunch. pretty standard english strong ale, which means it’s average or a hair better at best. dark, with a malty dark fruit flavor profile and a touch of hops in the nose. decent, but not very exciting. 2nd try...standard all around with a little more unpleasant bitterness than last time. 1st try 3.0. this time 2.7."

Bottle from sharrow Vale beer shop, sheffield. Copper ale with a short lived head. Rich Malty Aroma, prunes and resin. Taste malty again, strong and bitter. Alcohol and Prickly carbonation create a lasting tingly mouthfeel.

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Ruby red, creamy beige head. Smell of dark fruits, plum, spicy hops, caramel and orange zest. Medium sweet, caramel, plum, dark fruits, prunes, some herbal influence. Medium bitter finish, resins. Sticky stuff; nice malts and hops. Works probably well as a winter warmer

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 3/18/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, light nuttiness, light roast, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light-moderate yeast fruitiness; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, light roast, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, light roast, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice robustness and complexity of big dark/bready malt and light-moderate yeast fruitiness; with minimal cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and lightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice English strong ale. Big robustness and nice complexity of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.
