fidelis83 (13), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jul 6, 2008 Pours cloudy honey with thin white head that fades quickly but leaves a little on the rim. Aroma is yeasty and grassy almost like a good hefeweizen. Flavor is a little citrusy, pretty sweet licorice, peaches!?! for a second then licorice again. Palate lacks the viscous syrupy feel of a good tripel but is probably great for people new to the style. davidoc (104), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 5, 2008 Poured amber from the bottle with a very thin white head. Mild malty aroma and bubblegum taste. beerheart (211), Erie, Colorado, USA Jul 5, 2008 It is so rare to find an American brewer that can do justice to the Abbey Tripel style. I wonder why I try anything other than that produced by a genuine Belgian brewer. this pours light gold with a thin, white head and good lace. The mouthfeel is thinner than I expect from a tripel. It feels watered down. The taste is malty and yeasty with coriander and orange peel. A bit of peat and grassiness, too. Mad_Indian (797), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus, Golden pour , aroma of bread and citrus with a spice ending. The flavor had a sweet citrusy flavor. I rather liked it. thegreenrooster (1433), St.louis, Missouri, USA Jul 3, 2008 Pour is a bright golden with a large white head. Aroma is some candi sugar and crystal malts. Flavor is better with some honey, candi sugar and a bit of barnyard funk. Very thick swallow. Can’t really dog this one to bad as it has its qualities but it is not a real good example of the style.
