Bottle. Poured a clear orange colour, helped by carefully pouring off the small amount of sediment in the bottle. Taste was very sweet but the alcoholic strength and the style of the beer made it just about acceptable. Not as good as a number of Belgium originals I have tasted but not a bad effort overall.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy golden orangey color ale with a large foamy head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of candi sugar with faint ester. Taste is overly sweet with some cloying notes and very faint fruity ester with no spicy yeast that I usually associate with the style. Body is full with limited filtration with some average carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Lack of balance overall and somewhat overly sweet.

Poured cloudy yellow. Light fruity and buttery aroma. Flavor was mainly butterscotch and fruity with some yeast. A touch sweet.

THOUGHTS: One of the few regular Flying Dogs I hadn’t tried. Not great. Not an awful beer, but really not the best tripel. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, light coppery orange with very tiny particles of average to thick density in the body and a very small, off-white head that mostly diminished and left ever so slight lacing. The aroma was moderate caramel, candy and apple juice, light to moderate musty yeast, cardboard, spices, a little orange and slight vinegar. The initial flavor was sweet and slightly acidic; while the finish was sweet, slightly sour and ever so slightly bitter with and average to short duration. There was apple juice, candy sugar, slight orange, spice, slight wet cardboard, musty yeast, slight hops and apricot. It was a little cloying and wouldn’t have been so bad if there was a little more balance. The medium body was sort of like watery syrup, with fizzy carbonation and a light alcoholic finish.

Nice clean gold pour until the last 1/2 inch which clouded her up. Light white head. Aroma of bread and light brown sugar. Light coriander and yeast with a good hint of warmth. Light after taste of brown sugar. Medium bodied with what I term as mild carbonation.

355 ml bottle. Deep orange golden colour. Small white head. Subtle malty aroma with some Belgian yeast character. Spicy flavours with hints of black pepper and fennel. Slick texture. Carbonation level is surprisingly low for a tripel. Nice rounded maltiness. Floral hop flavours, but they are well hidden. An OK tripel, but not particularly interesting.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 7 oz bottle - part of a 8-pak mixer of their hiugh gravity beers. Medium orange pour, slightly cloudy - very brief white head. Fairly neutral aroma with a hint of spent grain. Flavor has a touch of booziness to it, a touch of honey, some amaretto accents and not much else.Slightly muddled mouthfeel. Overall, below par.

Bottle, courtesy someone. Clear golden yellow pour, some wet lacing and head. Some yeastiness int he nose, cotton candy, banana and clove, some dry grain. Grain and yeast flavors, banana and slight bubblegum. Thick bodied, full of flavor but not too complex. Not bad at all.
