Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Aroma is malty with caramel, yeast and notes of fruit and spices. Flavor is moderately sweet & malty with ripe fruit, caramel, yeast and a touch of spices with a medium body and a dry finish. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Feb 12, 2009 Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is of dark fruits, caramel, yeast, and a hint of spices. Flavor is sweet of the dark fruits and caramel malts up front. Finishes with a little warming and yeast. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Feb 12, 2009 12-oz. Thanks, Skoi! Pours crystal clear light gold. Headless, with a musty and mossy nose. Medium, somewhat oily body. Basement, foot, and moss on the mid-palate. Bitter clove and rubbing alcohol on the finish. Very bitey there at the end.
FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Feb 8, 2009 12 oz. bottle of the Binny’s Singles Rack (I think... been awhile since I bought this) (Orland Park, IL). Pours a hazy golden hue, honeycomb, with decent offwhite head that begins to dissipate to a film quickly. Aromas are typical of a belgian: Belgian yeasts, a touch of spice, apple fruitiness, and grainy sweetness on top. Light sugars float into the aroma. Initial is fairly tame in body of the tripel, light belgian yeast and spiciness with a decent fruitiness, apple and light banana, with a touch of candy sugars. A bit light bodied for what I was expecting, but full well quaffable. I can feel the alcohol as it slides down my throat, likely from the hearty meal just consumed. Decent smell, appearance, and taste mixed with a dissappointing body. Finishes mellow with a touch of sweetness on the palate. Lack of staying power for this bew. Miksu (2191), Jyväskylä, Finland Feb 8, 2009 12 oz bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival 2008. Golden to copper color. Banana, tart fruits, sweet toffee and acetic acid in the aroma. Sweet toffeish, tart, fruity and slightlyspicy flavor with banana, clove and some alcohol sharpness. Too sweet with disturbing alcohol sharpness. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Feb 7, 2009 Minimal head which dissipates quickly. Kind of soapy mess left behind. Sweet aroma with caramel, oranges, grape and some malts. Not much in the way of spices in the aroma. Hazy brownish orange. Appearance does nothing for the beer. Sweet and malty flavor with a good alcohol kick up front. Flavor is decent. More fruit, sweet malts, some brown sugar and a bit of spice shows up now. Pretty easy drinking. A bit of lingering vegetal notes and orange. For a very unappealing looking brew, the flavor is not that bad. hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Feb 6, 2009 Flying Dog makes some very excellent beers so I had high expectations for this one. Poured cloudy gold with a medium white head and modest lacing. Nose of yeast and sweet malts. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is yeasty as well with citrus and banana in the background. Shows alcohol in the finish. Kind of average for the type I would say. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Feb 6, 2009 What a disgusting beer. Has to be one of the worst tripels i have ever had.
Pour out a a slightly hazy color with nearly no head. Flavor was bad. over taken by the yeast. Very little sweetness and a slight burn. this was less than appealing.
