I had this on tap at the brewpub in Frederick before a tour. I was excited when I saw they made this style, but found the beer disappointing. The beer had a light amber-straw color with a thinner, foamy white head. An aroma of caramel malt, candy, and some citrus hops, but nothing truly stood out. The flavor was also a bit subtle and weak, mostly the sweet candy/sugar character was present. It had a thin mouthfeel, was a bit dry, and low carbonation.

bottle, with another great label from flying dog. Pours a clear bold orange, small head of big bubbles that clears pretty quick, bu enough active carbonation to keep some foam. Sweet fruits- some banana, pears, and apricots- and floral notes in the aroma. Flavor shows more sharpness than the smell- some spicy sharp notes and yeasty notes show up immediately. Smooth slick malt sweetness, some sticky table sugar notes. A bit of booze heat shows up in the rear, but nothing that really detracts. Palate is on the heavy side, with a bit of a slick oily finish. Overall a decent interpretation of the Tripel, but nothing especially impressive.

Belgian Tripel Americanized. Carbonation was low. Too smooth and sugary. Body was heavy. Nothing very memorable. Sweet, low hop character.

Bottle (33 cl) at Haket, Göteborg, Sweden. Clear golden with a tiny white head. Spicy and yeasty aroma with some marzipan. Dry finish. Quite good.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light golden yellow color with a small white head and lack of retention. Nose has heavy notes of banana nut bread. Yummy!! Very smooth flavor that has floral and candi sugar noted. Very smooth and easy to drink. It almost reminds me more of a Belgian strong ale but I can see triple in it. The balance on this beer is very nice too, you would never know it’s 8.5% ABV. Very tasty. I kinda want another one.

The Dan Journal #207. Tasted 7/21/08. 12oz bottle. Filtered with a bright golden hue. Thick ring of white head. Banana bready aromas. Notes of apples. Medium bodied with an estery yeasty flavor. Bitter citrus notes with a touch of banana. Decent attempt!

Pours a semi-clear pale orange with almost no head. Notes of banana, lemon, and a sweet belgian style yeast. Alcoholic, with spicy hops and a bit grainy. Nothing really all that special here. Other than another sweet label.

12 0z. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy golden color with a thin white head that faded pretty quick. Faint lacing. Aroma is light herbal hops and esters. Flavor is sweet malt, esters, light spice, and herbal hops. The aftertaste has an odd bite to it. Light to medium body. Alcohol is noticeable. A decent beer.
