Tmoney99 (3429), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 14, 2008 Bottle from Root Cellar. Poured clear orange color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate yeasty, citrus & spice aroma. Medium body. Medium yeasty sweet flavor with a medium sweet and small alcohol finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.
robinvboyer (963), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jul 26, 2008 Not your typical tripel. The nose is very sweet, with some bready malts, not much hops. There is an odd sweet wheat flavour i cant shake. The sweetness i’m finding is really taking away from the beer. NOt my fav in the style. gnoff (2540), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 26, 2008 (355 ml bottle at Haket, Göteborg) On July 24, 2008 BB 12.04.10
Clear golden color, bubbly white head. sweet, phenolic and alcohol scent. Smoke, clove, phenolic, band-aid taste. A triple really shouldn’t be this phenolic. A bit sweet, but mostly phenolic, aftertste. Medium to moussy mouthfeel. Medium to high bitterness. Dry also, feels like a lot more than 27 IBU. Bitterness is quite distinct. Turns shady with last of bottle. Not well balanced for a tripel, would work out OK for a Belgian strong ale. As usual my rating is for how I liked it, not according to style, where it wouldn’t get very high i’m afraid.
DocLock (4047), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2008 Pours chill hazy deep gold with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is rock sugary malt, hopcitrus, with mild funky and floral notes. Tastes dry, malty, floral, with hopcitrus and some funky notes. A bit watery and lacking the flavor profile and intensity of the great tripels. abcfan (138), USA Jul 22, 2008 Decent offering, nothing extraordinary. Pours yellow tinted with orange, with no head. Aroma is fruity and sweet. Taste is sweet malt and yeast. Bitter finish. Wouldn’t seek out. nqualls (17), Tennessee, USA Jul 22, 2008 Pours a hazy yellow color. Fruit and malt aroma. A very good beer, but it doesn’t beat the true Belgians.
